# Gameplay Overview
Antares in the future will have several gamemodes, but the main one that will be developed and iterated upon first is **Expedition**. As the name implies, this gamemode sees the station and crew given an actual purpose--no longer is it arbitrarily a "plasma research vessel".
## Antares "Expedition"
Your contractors (Antares) have seen it fit to send you and your crew into the depths of space to extract and salvage goods from a system of planets and their satellites.
### Jobs
The main departments of Antares are as follows:
- Command, which oversees the station as a whole and keep it running smoothly
- Security, which keeps the peace, arrests wrongdoers, and keeps people safe from planetary fauna
- Service, which uses goods from expeditions to make delicious meals and alcoholic beverages, alongside managing the dormitories
- Medical, which administers field healing on expeditions, surgery on the station, and drugs to everyone
- Science, which deals in many things, including plant research, alien fauna research, atmospherics, cybernetics, and alien artifacts.
- Engineering, which keeps the power running, the station integrity at maximum, and the singularity alive and well.
- Logistics, which manages resource acquisition, distribution, and moneymaking.
- The Undership, made up of often criminal castaways from the ship's main crew, as well as the silicons

### Antagonists
This area is not uninhabited, however, as it is home to several outcrops of non-sapient and sapient life alike. Dangers await in this star system, and it is the crews job to keep the ship (not station!) running and extract as many resources as possible, while avoiding threats. You might run into:
- Deadly creatures like xenomorphs, spiders and nanobots that attempt to destroy the ship from the outside
- Contracted spies, assassins and thieves coming from within the station
- Pirate crews attacking the ship
- The sapient inhabitants of the planets you've come to pillage, who frankly aren't too happy about the whole situation

### Areas of Expedition
The system you've been sent to has lots of different types of planets, all with different resources, flora, fauna, danger levels, and inhabitants. Asteroids and other satellites are common and can be extracted from as well.
Some types of expeditions include:
- Hot terrestrial bodies; think Lavaland but better because I made it
- Wet terrestrial bodies; drowned worlds with few inhabitants, dangerous creatures, but lots for science to deal with
- Dry/rocky terrestrial bodies; lots of materials, chemicals, ores, and more, but hard to walk around on without special gear; and the creatures are a little larger than usual.
- Cold terrestrial bodies; hard to survive on because of the extreme weather, but often home to many rare goods.
- Abandoned alien terrestrial bodies; old cities and towns with lots to scavenge (especially weapons and technology), and some straggler inhabitants
- Inhabited alien terrestrial bodies; you probably don't want to land here if you don't want a fight.
- Asteroid belts; relatively safe (apart from some space carp or space whales), but not much except for ores. A good first place to visit.

### Game Systems
Antares will have many unique game systems not often found in SS13 (except for some less-populated servers), including:
- Basic stats & skills (don't worry--they're not often a hard gate)
- Traits / vices
- other stuff lol
