# Living with Machines and Jo Guldi sessions
#### These sessions are designed to evolve during the two weeks when they take place. Previous days will design further sessions in more detail. Changes and further information will be updated here. You can contact Léllé Demertzi via [mdemertzi@turing.ac.uk](mailto:mdemertzi@turing.ac.uk) should you have any questions or need assistance joining any of the sessions.
###### If you don't have a Turing pass and will be attending a session at the Turing office, always report at the first floor, where most of the activities will run. If any session is running on the second floor that day, a Turing staff member will collect you from the first floor reception area.
##### You can have this schedule sent to your email as calendar requests. Please email Léllé at mdemertzi@turing.ac.uk.
### Monday 4/07
**10.30 - 12pm Intro and Team Elevator Pitches (Grant Ideas)**
Chaired by Ruth
Attendees are invited to bring an idea (or 2) for grants they would like to pursue, either collaboratively or solo. No preparation is required: these do not need to be polished presentations, but raw ideas that you'd like to pursue in the bid writing camp; the aim is to help you polish and finesse. To help with planning, however, please do add your name **[here](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfRmWQ87zr_G3W1mYVWgLCiy7QiJYZY0VYWMmEZIWTNSMm1mQ/viewform?usp=sf_link)** if you would like a 5 min slot.

Meeting ID: 973 8491 3946
Passcode: 838784
**12-1pm Debrief and team building**
Facilitated by Ruth
We will form breakout groups (which will be both physical and in breakout rooms for virtual attendees) to give feedback on ideas and to form working groups where people are looking for collaborators. People will be able to move between the breakout groups if they are interested in more than one idea. Note: feedback will be built in at each stage of the bid writing camp.

**2-3.30pm State of DH Roundtable Discussion**
Chaired by Jo and Ruth
This is different from the morning session: whereas those are more concrete ideas you plan to work on, this is more of a blue-sky session thinking about the dream solutions we could offer to the challenges we face in DH right now (which we hope will feed grant writing and the potential white paper in week 2). We would like a few provocative statements to start off discussion. If you would like to offer a 7-min pitch, the prompt is: "What is the most important infrastructure/data/tool that a grant could build for the future of Humanities Research in Britain?". If you will be offering a statement, please sign up **[here](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeosrs1Yz8Axx-DbB9lJCOwiD1F-8wq3tCOhE9q_Oc3B0KO9g/viewform?usp=sf_link)**

**10.30-1pm Intro & 'What's next' (after LWM)**
Chaired by Jo and Ruth
Short 5-10 presentations from Ruth, Jo, and Maja about what we're hearing and excited about; then responses; pass out post-it notes and markers and ask individuals to work in small groups of 2-3 writing down what they see as next issues for themselves, their community. then 30 m of rearranging post-its into a mind-map of the community future. then Ruth/Emma/Jo rearrange the mind-map into a schedule of the next 2.5 days
