  • Education does not end when we graduate from school. People are always learning, discovering new interests, and engaging in new projects. There is always something new to learn. Before diving into the new technology that enables Andamio, let's take a brief look at the educational philosophy that inspires it. Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an educational model that emphasizes relevance, experimentation, student decision-making, and collaboration. It is the model best suited for addressing the Education, Organization, and Oracle problems that were introduced earlier in this paper. Anyone engaged in PBL has an opportunity to learn by doing things. Where industrial education models emphasized compliance from and competition among students, Project-Based Learning gives students a chance to demonstrate mastery of what they have learned, to work on meaningful projects, and to collaborate with other people to achieve their goals. Organizations use Andamio to deliver "PBL Courses" that onboard new Contributors. "Contributors" are broadly defined, and can take many kinds: students, new team members (full-time, part-time, or contractors), developers in an open-source project, clients, investors, or even general users. Contributors develop new skills while learning about the organization hosting the Andamio course. Along the way, Contributors meet potential collaborators and decide how to spend their time, while building an on-chain record of project-contribution and skill-mastery that is used in two ways: Internally: Organizations create access thresholds for Contribution and Governance Externally: Contributor records are shared across a network of Organizations

  • The Problem: Too often, when we are confronted with a deluge of information, we struggle to make sense of it and to decide if we can trust it. What would happen if people always had access to enough relevant, trusted information to take meaningful action? When it went online, the internet promised a revolutionary new level of access to information for all people. Now, a few decades into the information age, we recognize new challenges: It is hard to verify if information is accurate and true. It is hard to verify the source of information. It is hard to make sense of unlimited information. It is hard to focus our attention by understanding what information is most relevant in a given scenario.

  • A Network of Problem Solvers Humans are problem solvers. We want to make meaning every day by solving problems we face, both individually and in collaboration with others. With our families and friends, in our communities, and with the organizations where we work, we solve problems all the time. We recognize global, unsolved problems, like climate change, food insecurity, and poverty. Have you ever thought of these problems as "too big" to solve? If so, you are not alone. At certain scales, our collective problem solving capacity seems to break down. Why? It is not inevitable that our capacity for problem solving should degrade at scale. It is only a symptom indicating that our systems do not yet work well enough to allow us to solve our biggest problems. It is possible to adjust these systems. The purpose of this paper is to show how the world's current operating system (OS) puts a hard limit on the scope of problems that people can solve, and then to suggest a way to change that. We will show how three problems - The Education Problem, The Organization Problem, and The Oracle Problem - are all connected. Then, we will show how interwoven changes to the way we educate, organize, and share information can expand our global problem solving capacity in a future where no problem feels too big.

  • The AndamioJS Library provides off-chain code for interacting with the Andamio Smart Contracts in an Andamio Instance. It allows anyone with an Andamio Instance to create a unique front-end. There can be many different User Iterfaces for interacting with the Andamio Network. AndamioJS provides: A set of functions for using Andamio data A set of transaction functions for interacting with Andamio, that work with CIP-30 enabled Cardano browser-based wallets like Nami, Eternl, or Typhon. AndamioJS is only the first implementation of Andamio off-chain code. In the future, there will be additional implementations, along with specialized indexers that make it more efficient to interact with the network. We are building bridges to Plutus PBL, where the ongoing work of building Andamio is featured in course projects, and hosting community meetings to debate how to best balance utility and decentralization while building off-chain systems. Just like Andamio is built to solve interconnected problems, it is built with interconnected tooling. As development continues, Andamio is built to evolve along with the Cardano ecosystem.

  • Andamio Instances Andamio is not a monolithic system like some of the "Web 2.0" social networks you might be accustomed to. In order to use it, an Organization must create a new, independent "Instance" of the Andamio Platform. Andamio is built upon a set of "parameterized" smart contracts. These Plutus smart contracts are used to manage treasury funds, track commitments from contributors, and to govern decision-making systems. Plutus contracts can be built with re-usable rules that remain constant with different parameters. The Andamio contracts define what an Organizational Administrator, Decision Maker or Contributor can do, but crucially, not who they must be. Unique Role-Based Access Tokens are minted uniquely for each role in every instance of the Andamio Platform. Each instance runs independently on the Cardano blockchain, with unique access tokens, rules, and contract addresses. It is easy to make Andamio Instances interoperable, but by default they are independent. Organizations can opt into network participation when they are ready and at their own pace - for example, when collaboration across organizations is necessary for solving bigger problems. Roles People participating in an Andamio Instance use on-chain, Role-Based Access Tokens to participate in the system. In Andamio, there are 4 role-based tokens:

  • Andamio is a platform for organizational development built on Cardano. It provides a modular toolkit for learning management, contributor onboarding, emergent credentials, and treasury governance. Andamio uniquely blends Cardano smart contracts and design patterns for decentralized applications with project-based learning methodologies and principles of evolutionary organizations. By combining a technical toolkit with principles of Project-Based Learning, Andamio empowers people and organizations to address big, complex, interconnected problems. As a result, Andamio enables new modes of collaboration across a network of people and organizations. In the rest of this paper, we will take a detailed look at the Andamio Toolkit and accompanying methodologies. The mission of Andamio is to support people to learn, organize, and share information enough to solve big problems. Andamio is built for anyone who wants to learn enough to contribute to breakthrough projects, and it is built for organizations seeking new ways to collaborate by sharing resources and decentralizing decision-making power. Introducing Andamio In this section, we will investigate the Andamio Toolkit: Andamio PBL Framework

  • A Web of Problems The Education, Organization, and Oracle Problems are interwoven in a complex web. If our educational systems emphasize compliance and competition, then our organizations are likely to do the same. If we want to build organizations that solve problems, then education must be meaningful and relevant, emphasizing mastery and collaboration. If our organizations are forever competing in small contests rather than collaborating to solve big problems, then that sets a hard limit on what we'll be able imagine for our educational systems. Always, organizations are made up of people. When people trust each other, they collaborate. When people trust the information they are getting from systems, they can most effectively learn - and cultivate deeper trust - by contributing. Andamio provides a set of tools for building educational, organizational, and oracle systems that support people to collaborate in solving big, interconnected problems. Andamio enables groups of people to build high levels of trust at local scales, and when they are ready, to collaborate with a network of high-trust, evolutionary organizations to solve global problems. "People Positive and Complexity Conscious" Working in any complex system is challenging because we have to manage our focus among a group of interconnected problems that compete for our attention. As long as we are aware of this complexity and embrace it as reality, this is not a problem. However, when we fail to acknowledge complexity, by attempting, for example, to simplify systems so that they can be applied globally, we lose track of the needs of individual people. This is why centralized, global systems do not work. And that's why, all around the world, groups of people are working to build new systems.
