## The danger of "big claims" :boom:
<div style="text-align: left">
* None of those research teams made their written report or data available to public, despite the use of public funding.
* The discourse is often centered around ethno-nationalist sentiments.
* Sensationalist claims eventually cease and therefore, corroding public trust to science and scientists.
</div>
---
## Openness and humility :pray:
<div style="text-align: left">
* Owning limitations of scientific findings is **too rarely valued**, when science is a rat-race.
* Scientists play their role as "a token gesture" in a populist, science-sceptic government.
* Transparency allows scientific community to protect the public's interests.
* ...but ==openness requires humility==.
</div>
---
## Open science helps :open_file_folder:
<div style="text-align: left">
* Adopting open scientific practices equates with strong commitment to quality by allowing feedback and robustness check of the claims.
* ..and therefore, protects the public's interests.
* Being transparent is a signal of trustworthiness, public would be inclined to trust science more.
</div>
