Skedler has split into Reports and Alerts. Both tools are used to automate reporting.
## Skedler Reports
Currently supported. Latest version (6.10.4) is from 7th December 2023.
### Running and configuration
Very easy to deploy and configure. The mailer configuration was easy. The reports were easy to create and setup.
### Creating a report
1. You can create visual and tabular reports.
The visual is using visual from Kibana and the tabular is displaying the data into a table.
1. To create reports, Skedler connects to Kibana and from it you can choose the data source - dashboard, data table or even a saved search.
1. Design
- Dashboard snapshot report - one-page report with snapshot of your dashboard.
- Smart layout report - smart layout with one or more pages.
You can use the visualizations created in Kibana and directly drag and drop them into the report from the sidebar on the page.
4. Templates are also available where you can fit your vizualization and text.
5. Scheduling is also available
6. Reporting to email, Slack, S3 Bucket
### Licensing
For the purpose of testing I have used a trial license, which on Kubernetes after activating, if for any reason the Pod has been restarted or recreated the license deactivates.
The support provided me with a paid 7 day trial license to avoid that issue.
Currently negotiating the pricing, but in the end it could prove too expensive for our needs.

## Skedler Alerts
Currently supported, but without future updates.
Their roadmap is strictly sticking to Reports.
### Running and configuration
They have maybe purposly hidden information about the tool. I was able to retrieve some installation guides and archives and deploying wasn't that hard at the end. Finding the information was the hardest part.
### Creating alerts
I was able to create a test alert. The configuration is very flexible. It's retrieving all the settings and information from Elasticsearch directly.
I was not able to configure a mail server, because the app configuration did not provide the accurate options and the Reports app provides - I am still in the loop with the support about this issue.
The only option for reporting the alert was writing in an Elasticsearch index, which I tried. All the alerts were with status FAILED, without a clear explanation why. I have triple checked the query - it returned the proper result and the alert has been triggered, but not sent to the index.
### Licensing
The app comes as community edition without a license, which gives you just TWO alerts.
**They have avoided multiple questions about licensing already.**
