# The Dive Cycle **[afnleaf's notes](https://afnleaf.github.io/notes.html)** *patch 1.61* *not only applicable in dive* ---- ### Pre-fight Phase Plan the most important factors for the upcoming fight. - basic win con -> elaborate - target priority -> default target - ult planning -> opening ult -> self specifics ---- ## The Cycle **Uptime**: using your cooldowns **Downtime**: living until cooldowns are back The main idea is that as a team, you should have a synchronized *"pulse"* or *"wave"*. This is known as an uptime and downtime cycle, you could also call it online/offline, in/out, etc. [<img src="https://i.imgur.com/L93Afka.png" width="400" title="">](https://i.imgur.com/L93Afka.png) Your power level as a team is at its peak during *uptime* and at its lowest during *downtime*. ## Fundamental stages of Dive **scout -> stage -> dive -> reset** The following is an adaptation of these stages. ### Phase 1: *(Scout/Posture/Poke)* Scout -> Decision Making + Positions(Pathing) -> Playing for Lanes? -> Setting up a Dive? - *Scout*: get information - *Positions*: where will you play? *Pathing*: how to get there? -- What are the Advantages/Disadvantages based on your lane matchup? -- Who are you setting up a Dive on? Where will the Dive take place? ### Phase 2: *In | (Engage/Midfight)* Focus resources with timing to achieve a specific goal: - **Rotation** or Setup - Burst an Isolated target -> **Dive** - Close Distance -> **Brawl** - Create openings for **Spam** value or pick potential Going from phase one to phase two must be a quick transition, where the whole team is on the same page. It is ok to fail accomplishing your goal in this phase as long as you can quickly move onto the next phase. *(<- this concept is really important)* *Ults*: use ults to stay in longer and extend this phase. ### Phase 3: *Out | (Stabilize)* When engaging, you use resources, eventually you run out of them. If you are stuck chasing the goal of your engage phase without any resources left, you will lose. You need to keep some cooldowns so you can stabilize. - find cover(closed spaces) - recover cooldowns and HP - repeat the process from the top *Ults*: use ults to stay alive after going in. ---- ### Cleanup Clean up phase starts towards the end of the fight. You should have left the cycle by now. - Calling up or down - Target focus is **important** here ---- ### Post-fight phase One team should be the clear victor of the teamfight. Start planning your next steps immediately after. - Ult track - Downtime positioning ----
