###### tags: `CDA` # Privacy ## Privacy Footprint I thought that I was pretty safe in regards to maintaining my privacy but this activity just made me realize that I was delusional <3. In the article by Richard Haridy, *Facebook isn’t secretly listening to your conversations, but the truth is much more disturbing*, I was happy to hear that Facebook was not using a daily microphone feature to stalk me but it did not change the fact that different apps were capable of capturing and sending data easily to other third party sites. I love the Northeastern shout out in the article, but asides from that it made me aware that online privacy is not exactly as surface level as I assumed it would be. I thought it would just be not releasing personal information directly onto social media sites. I did not think that I would need to worry about my personal data being compromised through simple online activities. ### My Data Found I was grateful to see that not all of my social media accounts were discovered online when I was looking for my digital footprint. I was worried though when I saw that my Facebook was found because I did have a couple threats sent through there after some depressing dating app experiences. It made a lot of sense as to how my account was found. ![](https://i.imgur.com/S3YztyL.png) I felt even better knowing that more private information of mine was not released through Spokeo, but I cannot say the same for my mom and my dad. When I searched through their names, there as a variety of information regarding their residences and more. It worried me due to how accurate the information gathered was. ![](https://i.imgur.com/VeWIaSd.png) ### Browsers and Social Networks I found myself to be a lot more diligent regarding reserving my privacy on these platforms due to lectures my parents gave me on social media posting and location tracking. I had my location timeline on Google turned off and ensured that none of the information I had posted were particular in regards to geotags. However, I was amazed to see how much information that browsers held on computer data. That just fully increased my stress more~
