The **Past Simple** is used to speak about:

- I read books, looked at a magazine, and wrote. (It's a series [a list] of past actions)
- The library was open from 10 am to 9 pm. (It's a duration of time in the past)
- I went to the library frequently as a child. (It's a habit that happened in the past)
- I loved looking through all the children's books. (It's a past fact)
- I **swam** in the river last summer.
