The **Past Simple** is used to speak about:
- **completed** actions that happened in the past
- a **series (a list) of completed actions**
- a **duration of time** in the past
- **habits** in the past
- past **facts** or **generalizations**

**Examples:**

- I went to the library yesterday. (It's a action that is completed and that happened in the past)
- I read books, looked at a magazine, and wrote. (It's a series [a list] of past actions)
- The library was open from 10 am to 9 pm. (It's a duration of time in the past)
- I went to the library frequently as a child. (It's a habit that happened in the past)
- I loved looking through all the children's books. (It's a past fact)
- I **swam** in the river last summer.
- My friends **invited** me to the party yesterday.
- He **ate** strawberry last week.
- Her sister **walked** in the park three days ago.
