**USE**
- Long actions that started in the past and continue until now
- I've been living in Ireland for almost 4 years.
- How long have they been going out with each other?
- I've been studying all day and I'm absolutely exhausted now.
- I haven't been working here long but I love my job.
- Recent actions that have clear evidence or result now
- I'm so tired because I haven't been sleeping well lately.
- You've lost a lot of weight. Have you been going to the gym?
- Her eyes are red because she's been playing Apex all evening.
- You've been studying a lot recently and I'm proud of you!
**NOTE**
- Typically used for shorter, more temporary situations:
- I've been living in Ireland for 16 months.
- My sister's been working in that hospital for a few months.
- The simple form is used for longer, more permanent situations:
- I've lived in Ireland all my life.
- My sister's been a nurse for over 20 years.
- Not used with certain verbs like _know, like, hate, understand_
- I've known him for as long as I can remember. **NOT:** _I've been knowing him..._
- I've loved this film since the first time I saw it. **NOT:** _I've been loving this film..._
