# **Monthly Engagement** ## Areas To Focus (in App): * **Forum** * **Library** * **Push Notifications** * **Lessons (Message Student)** * **Online Lessons** **FORUM:** --- ***Question:*** Why is the Forum so important to your app engagement? ***Answer:*** Your Forum is a built in "social media" style platform that users look for quick engagement with you (the instructor) and other similar/like-minded students who are using your app to improve their game. **Pro Tip:** The more posts on the Forum, the more students will engage and the better chance there will be of increased revenue - utilizing a "free" module to increase ROI. **How To Use:** * Posting the Forum will always provide a level of engagement to your app users. A simple text post about something specific to a lesson, the PGA tournament event of the week, or anything that will prompt response will help. * Posting image(s) or videos will add to the engagment. If posting a video or an image, post with a call to action encouraging cooperation with the users. Post a question/survey, a challenge ("who will win this week?"), etc. * Post a link to a URL of importance to your students. Or post a link to a video in your Library that holds a specific meaning. For instance, PGA event is won by a player who made eight 1 putts during the round. If you have a video on distance control, or accuracy of a putt - grab the link for that video and post to the Forum. * ENGAGE IN YOUR FORUM POSTS AND RESPONSES -- There is nothing more important to engagement than your commitment to engage. If a user posts a question in the Forum try to respond within 24-48 hours. If you post something that expects engagement from users, be prepared to also engage in their responses. **Sample:** ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BJHac5rA_.png) --- --- **LIBRARY:** --- ***Question:*** How can I use the Library to increase app engagement? ***Answer:*** Your Library is the "go to" for users to improve their skills by taking advantage of your drill videos. A simple category/subcategory selection will get them the videos they are looking for to help fix a flaw. **Pro Tip:** Equality in the number of videos you have per category is key. No one wants to search a category and see only 1 video. So add regularly and check your categories before you create that new content. See where you are lacking videos, and shoot to build out the best library. **How To Use:** * Your Library is what your students will use to search for quick tip improvements. But it is also one of the most valuable pieces of your app. You can use the content in Lesson responses, Forum posts, Social Media posts, Newsletters, etc... So the more you have the better the value. Add a paywall and you can build a successful subscription business with your app. * Searching for the best video is important for the students, so categorization and descriptions are important. Heirarchy of the setup should be consistent with CATEGORY > SUBCATEGORY, to make the videos easy to track down. Example: **Full Swing > Driver.** * A good video Title helps the users to ensure they are selecting the video that will help with their flaw. Example: Full Swing > Driver > **"Correcting Your Slice."** * Description is also important for the user to understand the video before they watch it. Example: Full Swing > Driver > "Correcting Your Slice" > **"In this video we will look into what causes a slice off the tee, and how to approach your swing and your setup to clean up your slice."** * Add **NEW** Content: Users will stop reviewing the content in the library if each time they check a specific category there is nothing new for them to review. Adding valuable content is the number 1 way to maintain and grow a subscription based app. * Videos in the Library should range from 1 minute to 3 minutes in length. Videos that are less than 1 minute should go in Forum, if they are any longer than 3 minutes app users may lose the point of the video. * **NOTE:** This is not a set in stone rule, if the point takes more than 3 minutes to be made, that is ok as long as its not all videos. * **Schedule suggestion:** 1 new video per week and try to stick to a specific day. In the end, you have added 52 new videos in multiple different categories. Shooting a quick video while in a lesson, on the range, on the course can be easy if prepared to do so. Think about it as every lesson should have multiple drill content while teaching, just turn on the camera and shoot! **Sample:** ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/rJW_mjS0u.png) --- --- **Push Notifications:** --- ***Question:*** Why are push notifications important to your app engagement? ***Answer:*** Simple, it draws the users into the app. When they receive push notifications they know that you are engaging within the app. **Pro Tip:** Utilize push notifications for EVERYTHING, and see how much more interaction your app will get. Tie a push notification in with another feature and add more intrigue. **How To Use:** * Push Notifications are essential to all apps on the market. Every app that is out there use some form of push notification service to draw users in. * Couple a push notification with a Forum post, a new video in the Library, a cancelled event or upcoming clinic opening, and draw those users to engage. * It is suggested to add new video content to the Library, but users may not know there is new content if they are not notified of it. So when adding a new video to the Library, also post about it in the Forum, and tie it all together with a simple push notification. * Example: New video on Correcting Your Slice is being added to your Library. Add a Forum Post with a thumbnail view of the new video and say "New Video added to the Library talking about Correcting Your Slice. Check it out in the Full Swing > Driver section of the Library." Then follow it up with a Push Notification: "**New video "Correcting Your Slice" available in the Library TODAY**" **Sample:** ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/rJDjUsrRO.png) --- --- **Lessons (Message Students):** --- ***Question:*** How can I utilize Message Students to engage within the app? ***Answer:*** Every student in your app is looking to improve their skill, but not all are ready to reach out and ask "How?" With this feature you can take that action and draw them in. **Pro Tip:** Students who are uploading video content to their Swing Locker are looking to improve and are recording their swings to see their flaws. If they have not reached out for a Lesson yet they may just be hesitant. **How To Use:** * Simply navigate to your student list and select a student. Try to focus on those who ask questions in the Forum but have not submitted a lesson yet. Once you are viewing their profile check to see if they have videos in their Swing Locker. * Bypass their hesitation on submitting a lesson and provide a quick message to show that you are interested in helping them. * The goal here is to get them to submit a lesson request. If you have a paywall on your Lessons, they can now understand the value of submitting a lesson and make that purchase, leading to revenue from their inquiry. * Navigate to a student, view their swings, note 1 flaw you see. Click the "Send Message" button on that same screen and provide context to draw them in. * Example: "Hey Adam, I noticed when watching your swing videos that you have a lot of up and down movement in your body when you swing. Try this drill (pulled from your Library) to see if you can minimize that movement. Practice it a few times, and if you feel you are improving but need more pointers submit a Lesson request in the Lesson module of the app." * Simple acts of engagment like this with your students will lead to more Lesson requests. **Samples:** **Coach App:** ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BJ-acorAO.png) ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/B1ZT5iBRu.png) --- --- **Online Lessons:** --- ***Question:*** Online Lessons are important for revenue, but how for engagement? ***Answer:*** Online Lessons are just as important for the instructors as they are for students. If answered timely and with enough detail to sell the point, students will come back and purchase more lessons in the future. **Pro Tip:** Every Lesson should be treated uniquely, but should also have some ambiguity to it. Providing the entire farm when someone is looking for the cow will put a risk on more lesson requests. Provide enough to help with the one flaw that the student wants to fix, but leave open the door for others you may see so they will reach out when the time is right to fix that flaw. **How To Use:** * First, you need students to be submitting Lesson requests. If they are not then determine why that may be: 1. **Price**: Are your lessons priced too high? 2. **Value**: Do your students understand the value in submitting a lesson? 3. **Marketing**: Are you "selling" the Lesson submission to your students? * **Price**: This is the number 1 reason why students are not submitting lessons. The best way to view Online Lessons is to take your typical 1-hour In-Person lesson price and divide by 4. Since lessons typically do not take more than 10-15 minutes, that price point seems most appropriate. Also, use Lesson coupons occassionally to reduce the price and get more users to submit lessons. * **Value**: How do the students know the value in a lesson request? They don't, until they go through the process. So show what they can get. Post a lesson response in the Forum. Post what the students would get from the Lessons. Provide a free lesson occassionally to a student and ask that they post what they received of value in the Forum. * **Marketing**: This does not only have to be in the Forum or by Push Notification. You can market the Lessons in the app on your Social Media platforms. Encourage followers to create accounts/subscriptions in your app and submit lesson requests. On social media (Facebook, Instagram,Twitter) post a screenshot of a Lesson for them to see. Post a video of your Lesson response so they see what type of analysis they can expect. Any post about your App, your Lessons, etc will pull new users in. **Sample:** ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BkW1z3HCu.png) ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SkDyz2H0_.png) --- --- ## Areas To Focus (outside App): * **Social Media** * **Newsletter Engagement** * **In-Person Lessons** **Social Media:** --- ***Question:*** Why is using Social Media platforms an important piece to the puzzle? ***Answer:*** Many instructors have a social media presence that they use for their day to day communication to their following. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube are excellent platforms to promote your app. **Pro Tip:** The more platforms you post on, and the more posts you do, the more likely you are to get app downloads by the users following you. So post to one platform, and copy and paste to all, IT WORKS! **How To Use:** * Posting to Social Media is how people stay in touch with friends, family, co-workers, etc, is it also a place where individuals post what is on their mind. Using it for business is a growing expectation for many industries. * This is the same for Academies clients. Getting users into the app and getting them to spend on features is important. The best way to do that is to hit all social platforms with the same messaging, posts, videos, images, with a call to action to download your app. * Use the platforms to demonstrate what type of lesson help they can get through the app. Inform that you will always use social media platforms but that more drills content, and overall game improvement videos will now live in your app's Forum. * Occasionally post a sneak peak style post that will intrigue your following to get your app. "Today I will be adding a new video that can help a wide array of golfers with their swings, exclusively in my app. Download today to stay on top of the best content for improving your game!" **Sample:** ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/Hk0Od6SAu.jpg) **Newsletter Engagement:** --- ***Question:*** How can a Newsletter help me gain subscribers? ***Answer:*** The Newsletter let's the readers get to know the personality of the coach and their teaching style leaving them curious and wanting more. **Pro Tip:** The Newsletter can have a section dedicated to the app promoting its features and link it directly to the app store to download. The weekly/monthly video tips can be a sample of the content found in the app library, good engaging videos encourage the reader to want more content like it. **How To Use:** * Start by confirming the instructor's sender email address. This will allow the newsletters to be sent by SwingU but show as coming from the Instructor. * Next, we gather the email database from the client and authenticate the domain on the instructor website if it is over 500 subscribers. * Then the instructor will need to share their content with us in a google doc. * Branding is provided by the Instructor to make the Newsletter represent their brand appropriately. * The more video content available, the easier it is to put together the Newsletter and make it unique every time. These videos can also be used in the App Library, on Social Media, etc, so if shooting new content for the Newsletter, it should be considered for other use as well. **Sample:** **Link Example:** https://cm.swingu.com/campaigns/reports/viewCampaign.aspx?d=d&c=7F941AB44F133B0D&ID=CCE734FEB44DDAC92540EF23F30FEDED&temp=False&tx=0&source=CampaignSent ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/S1nZa__Rd.png) **In-Person Lessons:** --- ***Question:*** How can an in-person lesson lead to app usage? ***Answer:*** Most students work with their instructors and then do not have access again until their next in-person lesson. Getting them into the app provides them access all the time and not just during their in-person lessons. **Pro Tip:** Encourage in-person students to use the app to keep up-to-date with what they learned during their lesson. Have them leave the lesson and practice what was discussed, use the swing locker to store videos of their swings, and consider submitting a lesson to keep their lesson going. **How To Use:** * While a student is in person for a Lesson, utilize the Analyze Swing Option (last option on the menu), and select the student. * If student does not exist in the app the instructor can add a student, using the same steps, to the app so they can have access to their analysis when complete. * This creates a funnel for users who are not in the app to get registered for app access and possibly have more revenue based on how subscription tiers are setup. * Users will get an email saying (summarized) "Your instructor has submitted your analysis. Download the XX app here (link to store) to review your lesson." **Sample:** ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/r1JQJj20u.png) ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/r1RMkihR_.png) ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SkCfkj2C_.png)
