**Memeaters**
- Description:
- Memeaters are a caste of society that have forgotten their home, families and people, living only to consume the memetus flower (see https://hackmd.io/@ZEKE-ZEKE/MemetusFlower).
- Objectives:
- The Memeaters sole ojective is to consume memetus flower. This practice provides them long life. Society as a whole tolerates their presence becuase they produce a strange and valuable item - the memeshard.
- History:
- Some say the first Memeaters were created by the Epimemes to produce the memeshard. They are seen as cursed as they no longer have much connection to society as a whole, forgetting everything of their former lives.
- What do they look like?:
- The Memeaters are known for their masks which cover a grotesque mutation beneath. with blue stained mouth and teeth hanging below their mask. Other than that the Memeaters are essentially just mutated version their species
- Prominent Figures?: None yet
- Real world mirrors: The lotus-eaters of Homer's Odyssey were a group of people who consumed an intoxicating flower that made them forget their homes and families. Like the lotus-eaters , the Memeaters exist only to eat their intoxicating fruit. Also, there is mention of book-eating in the Ezekiel section of the Bible. Some take this to symbolize scholarship and study of God's word so that the rest of society can understand it. The Memeaters provide this service to the world in an abstract sense with the regurgitated memeshards. The regurgitated memeshards are a reference to Sperm whales who dive to incredible depths to eat their only known food source - giant squid. The beaks of the squid cannot be digested and the whales digestive system will coat the beak with a thick substance known as ambergris. The whale will eventually regurgitate a thick slurry of coated beaks and liquid ambergris that immediately crytalizes in the salt water. Ambergris is highly prized in the perfume industry and is used in all high quality perfumes.

Other notes:
- The Memeater will eventually regurgitate the memevirii in thick slurry where it instanously crystalizes in a quadratic form.
- The Memeaters' memeshard is highly prized by the followers of the prophet, ZΞKΞ and other elite avatars. The followers of ZΞKΞ beleive that these memeshards may be a key to fulfilling the prophecy of ZΞKΞ
- The memeshards are used in the Quest to the Quadratic lands, where the followers of ZΞKΞ bring the memeshards to their Quadratic Temples and assemble the many memeshards into a Quadratic Crystal, which for them represents the prophesied destruction of Moloch and honors their god, Pillgod.
- The assembled memeshards naturally binds and reforms if placed together. In the Quadratic Temples, these giant crystaline structures, with it's colorful memevirii trapped within, and the sloping quadratic curves are quite beautiful - they are one of the true wonders of the metaverse.
- People also collect the memeshards for other purposes, including jewelry and even perfume, but it is the followers of ZΞKΞ that covet these items so zealously.
