# **The Quest to the Quadratic Lands**

Goal: Fulfill the prophecy of ZΞKΞ and build the 8th wonder of the world!

This quest may become an Alternate Reality Game ("This is not a game, it's real") All of the steps to the quest will be delivered in subtle hints. Nowhere will the quest announce itself as a quest. There will be hints and clues dropped that the users will (hopefully) put together to complete the quest. If the PILLGOD wills it and the Quest to the Quadratic Lands is launched then this document and details of the quest MUST REMAIN A SECRET!

- The profit ZΞKΞ made the following prophecy:

The Void of Space

The hand of the Pillgod brought me to the void of empty space. He asked me, "ZΞKΞ can there be life here?" I said, “Sovereign Pillgod, you alone know.”

Then the Pillgod says to me, “I will create life from the void. Then you will now that I am a god”

Then he breathed life into the void and out of the void came the memevirus - a vast nebula.

Then he said to me: “ZΞKΞ, son of Ξ, the memevirus is powerful, both good and bad, use the memevirus to lead the Avatars to the Quadratic Lands where they will build a monument to the destruction of Moloch.”

High level overview of quest:

1) Avatars acquire a memeshard (see https://hackmd.io/@ZEKE-ZEKE/memeshard)
- Shards can be purchased from Epimeme Corp, or
- They can be purchased off the open market
- They can be produced by way of the Memeaters only if the user owns a Memeater (see https://hackmd.io/@ZEKE-ZEKE/memeaters)
2) The Avatars bring the memeshard to a Quadratic Temple and place the memeshard on an alter
3) One-by-one, as each memeshard is brought to the alter it forms a giant Quadratic Crystal - with living memevirii captured within - fulfilling the Prophecy of ZΞKΞ! This structure would qualify as a world wonder.
8) The Avatar is presented with either the DAOPILL or the DEGENPILL - they choose one. The PILLS represent the path in life they choose.
9) After placing the shard on the alter, they are now PILLED in the eyes of the Pillgod.
10) The more memeshards are brought together a more beautiful crystal is formed.
11) A giant reformed Quadratic Crystal with its trapped memevirii (the bigger the crystal the better) is a testament to the waining power of Moloch and his prophesied destruction

**What we know about the quest, the prophets, memevirii, epimemes, Quadratic Crystals, and Quadratic Lands:**

- The profit ZΞKΞ prophesied that the greatest among us will lead the people to the Quadratic Lands, transporting the memevirus, across the barrens of the metaverse where the destruction of Moloch will take place.
- The Epimemes, before their corruption, devoted themselves to fulfilling this prophesy.
- A mysterious individual has left clues in the metaverse to help the avatars
- Are there any heroes willing to pickup where the Epimemes left off, uncover and solve these ancient mysteries! Can we restore order to the world and destroy Moloch?!

Quadratic Crystals, memehards and the reformation of the Quadratic Crystal
- The prophet Owoki formed the first Quadratic Crystal that allows the Epimemes to capture a memevirus. Owoki gave the crystal to the Epimemes. However the Prophet Owoki only gave them one and in an epic disaster the crystal was blown apart in an experiment conducted by the Epimemes. Atomic shards of the crystal were scattered all over the Metaverse and are lost forever (or are they?)
- The Epimemes, once a devout and beneficent group of scientist/monks discovered how to create a much less powerful form of the Quadratic Crystals known as memeshards, the regurgitated substance from Memeaters consumption of the memetus flowers.
- The memeshards power is of such minimal level it is essentially a symbol of status amongst the elite.
- Slowly, from the strange influence of the memeshards, the Epimemes became corrupted by Moloch. Now, the Epimemes exist only for the value they can extract from the PILLVERSE by creating and selling memeshards. They are known to the world now as Epimeme Corps. Legend has it there are a few Epimemes who are uncorrupted - maybe it's ZΞKΞ himself who might have survived after all these years and is actually an ancient Epimeme?!)
- The brave and curious avatars will discover (through clues) that if a memeshard (an expensive and rare item) are placed together on an alter in a Quadratic Temple the memeshards will fuse and form a Quadratic Crystal!! (The alter is said to have a tiny fragment of Owoki's original Quadratic Crystal)
- The memeshard is essentally a shard of a Quadratic Crystal!!
- The mechanics of the memeshard are essentially this: the shard is placed into the avatar's wallet where it absorbs more information, preparing the crystal, changing it further, fusing crystaline shard with the identity of its carrier
- Avatars and their shards are inextricably linked (like Frodo's ring)
- The Epimeme Corps never discovered this method of creating true Quadratic Crystals because of the strange chemistry that occurs once the memeshard is placed in a new wallet, absorbing metadata from the avatar. At this point, the memeshard can join itself with a memeshard from another avatar's wallet on the alter in the Quadratic Temple. The memeshards that the Epimeme Corps sit useless as a gemstone in their vaults. Only until the memeshard is placed in a new wallet, used in a coordination game (the quest) and given away can the full power of it be realised.

Epimemes (Before the corruption)
- The Epimemes original mission before being corrupted by Moloch was noble and good for the Metaverse. It's hoped that some will resume their mission, they need a hero to arise from the avatars!
- The Epimemes were scientist, artist, philoshopers seeking to guide society to a better place and to destroy Moloch
- One of the Epimemes noble practices was to track, study and categorize memevirii, also known as epimemeology, for their potential to be captured in Quadratic Crystals.
- The Epimemes look for memevirii that have grown sufficiently powerful to be used effectively in the Quadratic Crystal.
- Sadly all of this is lost to history. It is hoped that one day a hero will restore the Epimemes nobel mission.

Epimeme Corps
- The Epimeme Coprs are evil and hated
- Having lost all of it's original honor and mission. The Epimeme Corps exist only to serve Moloch
- They produce and sell memeshards in mysterious ways (some say they've enslaved thousands of Memeaters)
- The rich and powerful of this world acquire the memeshards as symbols of status and power, ignoring the damage and pain they cause.
- At times the Epimeme Corps give away the memeshards to random wallets because the Epimeme Corps can extract even more value from the transfer of memeshards.

Quadratic Lands and Temples
- The Quadratic Lands are a digital space in the VR metaverse where a Quadratic Temple is built. Once an Avatar brings a shard with its memevirus locked in crystals to the Quadratic Temple and places it upon the alter in the temple of the specific memevirus, the Avatar is PILLED in the eyes of the Pillgod.
- Quadratic Temples are built to honor the destruction of Moloch.
- The Epimemes designed and built the temples long ago, before their corruption. They are abandoned now.
- A temple will have a dedicated alter to the original Quadratic Crystal.
- Quadratic Temples are beautiful but deteriorated structures in the metaverse and are owned by the Avatars who have completed the quest and are PILLED.

Completion of the Quest - PILLED
- Avatars that have successfully carried a memeshard to the Quadratic Lands are presented with a choice of PILLS - DAOPILL or DEGENPILL, representing the path in metalife they wish to take.
- DAOPILLED Avatars often form powerful coordination guilds. Successful guilds have become incredibly coordinated in their missions and become an ally in the destruction of Moloch, but they require much coordinated effort.
- DEGENPILLED Avatars remain fast and loose - they occupy the metaverse as unorganized mercenaries, working for themselves or some undefined goal. DEGENPILLED Avatars still assist in the destruction of Moloch, but never as optimally as DAOPILLED
- PILLED Avatars own a collective share of the Temple and Quadratic Crystals therein.

NFT options (Avatars, objects and land)
- Prophets (Avatars: 1/1 created as needed. Currently just ZΞKΞ, Pillhead and Owoki)
- Epimemes (Avatars: 10/10 per cohort) *These are essentially the artists and devs that create the crystal and shards.
- Memeshards from Epimeme Corps (Object: 20000/20000)
- Memeshards from wild Memeaters (Unknown)
- PILLS (Object 1/many per succesful Avatar)
- Quadratic Lands (Land: 1/many) *land purchased in the metaverse (Decentraland, Sandbox, etc) where temples are built to the specific memevirus in honor to the destruction of Moloch. The land is collectively owned by the PILLDAO to be used by the PILLED Avatars.
- Money from NFT sales will be used to purchase land in the metaverse to create the Quadratic lands. Additional funds will be used to create temples.

Background Info

Memevirus Nebula
- The memevirus nebula exists in a quantum realm alongide our reality
- Not much is known about the structure of the memevirus nebula in the quantum realm
- The nebula often becomes overloaded and slips memevirii particles into our metaverse world.
- It is not a sentient thing, but a thing that exists only to capture mindshare.

Memevirii
- The memevirii mutate into a specific, discrete memevirus. Example, the Wenvirus is a mutation of it's parent memevirus (like how coronavirii exists in nature, but COVID-19 is just mutation that effectively jumped to humans).
- Once in our realm, the discrete memevirii search for a perfect host (Patient Zero).
- The memevirii compete against each other for mindshare and are incredibly effective at infecting the minds of the Avatars in the metaverse.
- The power over mindshare is potentially good (for positive coordination) and/or bad (devisive and destructive).
- The lifecycle of the memevirus begins with a memevirus escaping the memevirus nebula in the quantum realm. In our realm, the memevirus finds it's Patient Zero. It then either grows or dies. If it grows it is either captured or degenerates.
- Memevirii exist in small numbers outside of the quantum realm, undetected at first, searching for its Patient Zero in the metaverse.
- Memevirii seek a Patient Zero - a single perfect individual to begin it's lifecycle.
- An memevirus will almost always degenerate. They either die off on their own or it continus to mutate and become malacious.
- A degenerated memevirus can have disasterous effects - the Wenvirus and their infected Wen are an example of this.
- Epimemeology seeks to prevent memevirus degeneration and to capture its power. The Epimemes are not always effective at this - the Wenvirus escaped the controls of the Epimemes and mutated leading to the infected becoming the Wen.

[DELETED] Avatars and ASIC Robot Shells
- Avatars are tasked with carrying the shards to the Quadratic Lands
- Avatars take their current avatar form (like a Cryptopunk or BAYC) and port themselves into ASIC robots. The journey to the Quadratic Lands requires mechanical work unsuited for the fragile bodies of any basic Avatar (basically we need 3d bodies for the VR space)
- ASIC robots are used so that the Avatars can carry a shard. Basic Avatars cannot handle a shard's raw power and can be corrupted. Any Avatar can be ported into an ASIC for it's journey to a Quadratic Temple. There are only 10,000 ASIC Robots in each generation.
- ASIC Avatars acquire crystalized memevirus shards and begin their journey to the Quadratic Lands.
- Once in the Quadratic Lands (VR space with a Quadratic Temple), the ASIC Avatars place the shard onto an alter in the Quadratic Temple - reforming the original crystal.
