# **Minimum Viable Quest: Build the 8th wonder of the world**

## What is it we're trying to achieve?
Destory Moloch.

To build a structure in the metaverse that would qualify for world wonder status. For a structure to become a world wonder it has to have several attributes. Authors on the subject from the ancient Greek Antipater to modern ones tend to agree on a few things: that world wonders need to be iconic; a representation of that chapter of humanity; require enormous human coordination; be mysterious/magical/technically advanced; and so on. We can use these benchmarks to achieve our goal. For example, a structure that required 20,000 people to coordinate in the construction, built piece by piece, symbolizing a chapter of humanity using advanced mathematics, geometry and artistic prowess - a structure like this would undoubtedly qualify as a world wonder. Using these benchmarks The Great Pyramids meets the status of World Wonder.

Can we meet these same benchmarks using web3, nfts and the metaverse?

Yes, we can. All we ask is that people bend a bit their accepted version of a world wonder needing to exist in the real world. No such requirement has been stated by experts on the subject of world wonders

## Why are we doing this?
To show the world the vast potential of human coordination available to us right now, using art, storytelling, NFTs, smart contracts and so on.

## How will users achieve it?
In the most general terms, I propose that we coordinate a massive number of users to build a giant Quadratic Crystal in VR space - a monument to the destruction of Moloch, the demon of coordination failure. The structure will be built using individual NFTs in each users' wallet, called Memeshards. Like the Great Pyramids, I propose that at least 20,000 individual wallets perform this act, placing the shards, piece by piece to meet the minimum qualification of world wonder status. Achieving this number of people, working together to build this structure represents an incredible act of coordination, highlighting the ethos of this new chapter of humanity, signalling to the world the vast potential of humans coordinating trustlessly. Visually the monument will be large, awe-inspiring, incorporting novel elements of the metaverse found only in VR space as well as ownership (imagine owning a piece of the 8th wonder of the world!)
Details of the quest need to be fleshed out with proper lore-building, as well as aligning the quest to elements of the PILLVERSE. I have started a fluid, ever-changing outline of this quest and the elements (like what is a Memeshard?) in The Quest to the Quadratic Lands [ask Zeke for link]. But, for now I just want to solidify what I'd like us to achieve in the most simple terms - build a world wonder.

## Where will this take place?
The monument will exist in the metaverse in a VR space yet to be chosen. The quest itself will begin with users acquiring the individual NFT pieces on our website then taking them to the metaverse to place them on the site where the wonder will sit. Users will also visit our discord for information and intereact with us on socials.

## Who will be involved?
I am definitely ill-equiped to be able to scope the technical requirements of the project. I would thing think that this project, done well, will require a team of artists, developers, lore-builders, community support, socials, etc. This project will build on the world of the PILLVERSE and will require narrative support.

To complete the quest it will require users with access to an ethereum-based wallet.

Based on choices we make with the narrative structure I think that the scope of this quest could be as simple as three steps: users get the Memeshard, they go to the VR space, place the Memeshard in the monument's location and watch the monument grow in weird strange ways until it reaches it's final form. But, the narrative could be much more complex where the quest details aren't provided right away and the mystery of "what to do next?" is distributed piece by piece. In this case, managing the quest would require more people.

Additionally I would like to have seperate, individual artists create each stage of the monument, building on each others' work. The final monument would be an amalgam of all the artists. The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is an example of this.

## Timeframe
Highly variable based on the choices we make on the scope of the project. world wonders traditionally take multiple lifetimes to create, but this is not a requirement. Time in the metaverse is relative. Still, I think a quest like this would take some time as the number of Memeshards placed slowly reaches the required number of wallets. Looking at other wallets progression of unique owners I speculate that to hit the 20k figure would take at least 6 months.

## Notes
I propose the first Memeshard be cheap or free to encourage anyone to participate but that whales can buy more at higher prices so that they can own a larger piece of the final wonder. The wonder can only be achieved after 20,000 unique wallets placed a shard. Some wallets may have only contributed 1 others 100s or 1000s. I understand that this goes against the hard cap figure we are used to, but it's important that we meet the 20,000 individual wallets number for world wonder status. As an alternative to the traditional hard cap on the number of pieces we could cap the number of pieces only once the 20,000 figure has been achieved.
