## LFX Mentorship - Mentee Showcase - POSTER SESSION **Title:** Cutting the Cord: Bringing Container Registries to Distributed Edge Environments with Harbor Satellite **Description** Containers have extended beyond their traditional cloud environments, becoming increasingly prevalent in remote and edge computing contexts. These remote or air-gapped edge environments often lacks reliable internet connection. In this session we present Harbor Satellite an extension to the existing CNCF Harbor Container Registry. Satellite is a lightweight, autonomous, standalone registry at edge locations acting both as primary registry for Edge/IOT workloads and a fallback for the central Harbor Registry. It also comes with efficient fleet management and artifact distribution optimised for edge locations. and Satellite is mostly developed by LFX mentees and community contributors. Speaker Biography: I am Prasanth Baskar, an open source contributor and currently an OSS Intern at 8gears. I actively contribute to several CNCF and Linux Foundation projects including Harbor, Harbor CLI, Harbor Satellite, JaegerTracing, Podman, ORAS, and Buildpacks. I am one of the maintainers of Harbor CLI, a subproject of Harbor, which is a CNCF graduated project. My previous speaking experience includes speaking at local conferences and at my college. promoting open source among my peers and professionals. One of my notable sessions was at a FOSS United Foundation Meetup, where I delivered a talk on building CLIs in 5 minutes. I do have a youtube channel where I occasionally stream live coding sessions and tutorials related to open source development. I love community-building. So, I serve as a mentor for both LFX Mentorship and Google Summer of Code (GSoC) programs. ## Affiliation: HarborCLI Maintainer ## Short version Bio I'm Prasanth Baskar, OSS Software Engineer at 8gears and an active open source contributor to CNCF and Linux Foundation projects like Harbor, Harbor CLI (Maintainer), Harbor Satellite, JaegerTracing, Podman, ORAS, and Buildpacks.
