AVS Description

ARPA Network is a secure computation network designed for blockchain-adapted cryptography. It enables decentralized functionalities such as verifiable random number generation, secure wallets, and cross-chain bridges. The network's threshold BLS signature service ensures security and tamper-proof operations by distributing nodes across multiple group of nodes. The ARPA Network enables the development of applications that involve secure key management, anonymous transactions, cross-chain messaging, quorum approval, and distributed randomness generation. Network is adaptable to various blockchains, supporting a multi-chain future and providing high availability through asynchronous non-interactive communication.

First application built on ARPA Network is Randcast - on-chain verifiable random number generation service. Randcast leverages the ARPA Network's nodes to perform BLS threshold signature tasks, ensuring that the generated randomness is secure, unbiased, and verifiable. It provides developers with a Smart Contract SDK that can be easily integrated into decentralized applications (DApps) to perform tasks like rolling dice, shuffling arrays, and generating random in-game elements.

Categorization

Cryptographic-security-as-a-Service (CSaaS) as "Web3 Infrastructure" sub-category. It can also be categorized as "Secure MPC"

Unique Selling Proposition

ARPA Network is the first decentralized secure computation network that is built specifically for blockchains. Protocol unique selling propositions are:

  • Decentralization - the network operates through multiple nodes distributed across multiple groups, ensuring there is no single point of failur.
  • Security - utilizing threshold BLS signature schemes, ARPA Network ensures that signatures are tamper-proof and verifiable, providing robust cryptographic security.
  • Flexibility - the network supports various applications and allows customization of signature policies to meet different security requirements and use cases.
  • Verifiability - all generated signatures van be verified on-chain.
  • Blockchain-Agnostic - ARPA network is adaptable to multiple blockchains.

Economic Model

The ARPA Network integrates EigenLayer's dual staking model, using both ARPA and ETH tokens to enhance security through Ethereum's shared security framework.(source)
