# Install YekOS on VMWare > **Note:** This tutorial is using VMWare Workstation 16 Player. ### Step 1. Installing You can find all the downloads here: https://yekware.carrd.co/. - Install the ISO file by clicking "Latest ISO Download" - Install the VMDK file by clicking "VMDK Download" ___ ### Step 2. Creating a new virtual machine Open VMWare and click "Create a New Virtual Machine". When it asks you which operating system is being installed, select "Other" for both options and hit Next again. ![](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/521031779818143744/1005126269907763332/unknown.png?width=378&height=379) Then, name the virtual machine whatever you would like and select a folder for it to sit in, and hit Next. ![](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/521031779818143744/1005126783466733608/unknown.png?width=379&height=380) > **Note:** Remember this folder for later! Choose a maximum disk size for your hard disk. Then **MAKE SURE** to select "Store virtual disk as a single file". ![](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/521031779818143744/1005127243921629255/unknown.png?width=380&height=380) On the next screen, confirm everything and hit Finish. ___ ### Step 3. Changing the Virtual Machine settings Select your newly created Virtual Machine, and click on "Edit virtual machine settings". ![](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/521031779818143744/1005128359656816750/unknown.png?width=303&height=455) You should see a window with a list of hardware settings for your virtual machine. Select "Hard Disk (IDE)" in the list. ![](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/521031779818143744/1005128901904838756/unknown.png?width=668&height=654) Copy the path of the disk file, and open it's folder in the file explorer. You should see a list of files that look something like this. ![](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/521031779818143744/1005129364230389810/unknown.png?width=363&height=54) ![](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/521031779818143744/1005129596984889426/unknown.png?width=629&height=202) > **Note:** The files will be named the same as whatever you named your virtual machine Replace the .vmdk file in this folder with the one you installed earlier in step 1. Next, select "CD/DVD (IDE)" from the hardware list. Under connection, select "Use ISO image file", and set the file path to the ISO file you downloaded in step 1. ![](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/521031779818143744/1005130745251123240/unknown.png?width=668&height=653) Next, select "Network Adapter" from the list. Set the network connection to "Bridged: Connected directly to the physical network". ![](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/521031779818143744/1005131133475901492/unknown.png?width=667&height=653) Next, click the Add... button on the bottom of the list and a window should pop up. Inside that window click serial port and click Finish. ![](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/521031779818143744/1005167445327228999/unknown.png?width=532&height=508) Under connection, check "Use named pipe", and type `\\. \pipe\Cosmos\Serial` into the first text box. Then select "This end is the server" and "The other end is an application". On the bottom under I/O Mode, check the box that says "Yield CPU on poll". ![](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/521031779818143744/1005168716163588096/unknown.png?width=368&height=360) Last of all, click the Add... button again and this time select "USB Controller". Click Finish, and set the USB compatibility to USB 2.0. Also check the box that says "Show all USB input devices". ![](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/521031779818143744/1005170132840103976/unknown.png?width=370&height=94) Click to Ok button in the bottom right corner to apply your changes. #### Congrats, you've finished setting up YekOS on VMWare and are ready to use it!
