title: Virtual Coworking
description: Fun fact, every WeWork location is first completely laser scanned as part of the process. What if those scans can be further useful in extending the benefits of co-working to an online metaverse?

What if the community working in physical coworking spaces can also meet in the cyberspace mirror world of that spot?

Starfish Mission is a space for blockchain/crypto and Web 3.0, founded by Starfish Network. This group provides spaces for the decentralized web community to collaborate with workspaces and 20+ community events monthly.

The technology is here today and has many use cases such as being able to broadcast talks to a global audience and collaborate in a fully interactive environment accessible on every platform and device.

## Process
Before Starfish, the space was dedicated to VR/AR startups which is how I was able to acquire the scan. However, it appeared to be in really bad shape when I got it.

This is why preparation is necessary to have a clear, clean space before scanning. Regardless, extensive cleanup was done in blender to get the model to a more acceptable place to begin working with.

Here is how the model looked in janus with a few lights and a skybox, which takes a few steps from a template and has less than 16 lines of code total.

The mirror world doesn't have to completely match the real world, but it would be useful if it stayed the same relative dimensions and collision map so that users in mixed reality can still mostly interact with physical and virtual reality players.
