# Welcome

This is a collection of documents, specs, diagrams, and presentations describing the **New Wildland Project**, also known as **CoreX**.

The New Wildland supersedes the first proof-of-concept implementation of Wildland written between early 2020 to early 2022 in Python, also known as "Legacy Wildland" or "Python Core". There is no backward compatibility between the two implementations. The former has been used mainly to test various crazy ideas and gain experience and understanding of how they can (or cannot) be used in a production-quality file storage solution. The New Wildland is now an attempt to implement such a production-quality solution.
