### Two things to keep in mind
- Nothing to lose
- I've learned a lot
---
# The Great New Hampshire Reset
---
### Q: To be or not to be?
- What did the FSP's consultant say in 2018?
- I told a board member: some Free Staters are thinking of starting a new organization similar to the FSP. What did they say?
- Also, we know our current consultant has uncovered the need for some sort of split; in/out-of-state (board agreed on some level)
- A: Yes! But what is a more complete answer; the best, most impactful, thoughtful, strategic answer?
---
### [certain people] + Liberty Migration = Biggest Impact for Liberty
- Who has made the biggest impact for liberty in New Hampshire? Name Names.
- What three things do they all have in common?
---
### New org? Ugh!
- Big Challenges
- But is there a pro-liberty org that already exists in NH that wouldn't have many of those big challenges?
- Is that org also known *outside* of NH, already has brand awareness, and would be incredibly open and welcoming to a partnership with people who are also libertarian Republicans and align with their mission?
---
### Republican Liberty Caucus
### of New Hampshire
- Grandfathered name
- Established brand awareness outside of NH
- Specifically attracts impactful, libertarian, Republican, political activists
- Also, in desperate need for more impactful, libertarian Republican, political activists
- In a way, they're a fully stocked gold mine, filled with opportunity
---
### But...
- RLCNH is not set up as a c3, it's a political org
- Yet what if there was a path to have our cake and eat it, too?
- What existing c3/c4 organizational model has solved that problem? Who does that now?
---
### Now, we're solutioning!
- Now, we're purposefully, thoughtfully, and specifically attracting impactful, libertarian, Republican, political activists to New Hampshire
- Along with a proven c3/c4 model
---
### Pros
- Get the best of both worlds: existing org, plus fresh start. Have your cake and eat it, too
- In other words, no need to take over the RLCNH, simply offer them the value of a new, complimentary c3 org that would bring them more impactful, libertarian, Republican, activists, and Doers
---
### Pros (continued)
- Fresh start with improved team that’s behind a simplified, clear, focused, improved mission, along with specific objectives and goals
- No branding issues/baggage with the name "Free Stater"
- “bunch of dirty hippies in the woods smoking pot”
---
### Pros (continued)
- Nobody has to take over the RLCNH. Instead, simply offer to bring them more of what they desperately need: libertarian, Republican, political activists
- They'd be desperate for more help: they haven't even updated their website in nearly 2 years
- In a way, it's kind of like you're instantly buying low, selling high.
- Immediate brand awareness
---
### Pros (continued)
- For example, when people hear about the new org online, or if representatives go to conventions and set up a table, or however people first hear of the new org, a lot more people automatically already know exactly who the org is (no need to explain an org like the FSP, which is often hard to do).
---
### More side notes & bonus points
- In a very good way, remember what that board member said: "good!" In other words, this could inspire copy cats (perhaps the libertarian homeschoolers could set up their own org, then the crypto folks, etc)
- In other words, we're talking about "The Great New Hampshire Reset"
- Opportunity to focus more on culture, too
- Existing CRM. Plus, national CRM, too (c4 to c3 is OK)
---
### Notes/Bonus (continued)
- Solves the metrics problem (i.e. with the FSP, we've counted movers, but not all movers have the same impact)
- Furthermore, plenty of FSP movers are not activists, don't vote, they just smoke pot in the basement of The Quill, or worse, according to what Chris Lopez has told me "plenty of people use the FSP for its resources, connections, and advice, then move to the middle of nowhere and we never hear from them again")
---
### In the end...
- The Free State Project's model has given the world some very useful information
- After nearly 20 years of the FSP's existence, my 11 years, my 14 months, dry erase board meetings, listening to other Free Staters, and especially after our current consultancy, now more than ever, we definitely know what the FSP does well, and we know what it doesn't do well
