### Top level overview (1/2)
- As evidence that this new org will be historic and uniquely inspirational, the 'proof of concept' is the Free State Project, which is essentially a nonprofit that helps pro-liberty activists and doers move to New Hampshire
- Once there, movers help build an ultra-successful, real-world safe space for people who just want to live free
- Migration for liberty happens all over the world, all the time
---
### Top level overview (2/2)
- And seeing as though I have 14+ years of familiarity and deep experience with the FSP, including as its Executive Director, **I'm very familiar with what the FSP does well, how it could be improved upon, and how to base a new and improved similar organization in one Florida county.**
- Why one Florida county?
- *Group of 4 so far

# The Florida Free County Project

(working title)

---
### Winning equation in NH (1/2)
- [certain people] + Liberty Migration = Biggest Impact for Liberty
- Who has made the biggest impact for liberty in New Hampshire?
- What three things do they all have in common?
- 500/1,400,000 = 0.036%
- Conclusion: success is easier than most people know
---
### Winning equation in NH (2/2)
- One example: if a Florida county has 500,000 people, and you activate/add 0.04% to the population, you'd only need to help 200 libertarian Republican political activists
- Start by pulling from existing/nearby communities in Florida
- In short, one free county among 3,143 counties in America
---
### Now, what are the top two objections to moving to New Hampshire for the FSP?
- Weather (i.e. cold, snow)
- Jobs
---
### Most impactful improvements (1/3)
- Fewer weather objections
- Re-focus the new org on jobs (HR)
- Fresh start with a simplified, clear, focused, and improved mission, along with specific objectives and goals
- Less funding required for overall success; fewer movers needed, fewer candidates needed (NH has 221 towns, 13 cities)
- Opportunity to focus more on culture, too
---
### Most impactful improvements (2/3)
- No branding issues/baggage with the name "Free Stater", easier to explain
- “bunch of dirty hippies in the woods smoking pot” (because all she knew was PorcFest)
- Improved pipeline: Connect with national pro-liberty groups for leads (e.g. YAL, Leadership Institute, RLC, SPN, etc)
- Low-hanging fruit: Uncover libertarian Republican political activists who already live in Florida, but are in Democrat-controlled areas
---
### Most impactful improvements (3/3)
- Solves the metrics problem (i.e. with the FSP, we've counted movers, but not all movers have the same impact)
- In other words, plenty of FSP movers are not activists, don't vote, don't contribute to the community or the cause of liberty, or worse, according to what an FSP employee has told me "plenty of people use the FSP for its resources, connections, and advice, then move to the middle of nowhere and we never hear from them again"
---
### Just a little deeper
- Set up as a c3
- Get buy-in: Attract Florida pro-liberty politicos (preferably over 100) to help choose the best county as a destination
- Already have tons of actionable data
- When the time is right, set up a sister political org (e.g. c4)
- Avoid mission creep, adding programs to one small org: split c3 into in/out of county (i.e. moving vs. develop community)
---
### What's stopping us?

- Confident, but humble
- Existing network

### In the end...
- The Free State Project's model has given the world some very useful information
- After 20+ years of the FSP's existence, my 14+ years of experience, including as its Executive Director, dry erase board meetings, listening to other Free Staters, and especially after the last FSP consultancy, now more than ever, we definitely know what the FSP does well, and we also know how it could be better
