## 28/03/2023
Audiencia: Los siguientes grupos:
* Qué cuestiones en particular se tratarían
* Qué entiende la gente por "Open"
* De estos temas, cuáles consideras que son "Open science"
* Por ejemplo, estos son temas interesantes para abordar?
* Revistas open access en las que resulta imposible el pago;
* Quién posee propiedad de esos repositorios open access;
* Compartir el uso de recursos computacionales pero limitado por ejemplo a membresía institucional;
* Buenas intenciones que se frenan por barreras de acceso (por ejemplo, compartir material sólo en inglés).
3. Cooperación: comprensión de las realidades en ambos lados, barreras en la cooperación, buenas prácticas
* Qué traemos a la mesa en el Sur que no tengan en el Norte.
* Cómo ayudarnos a tomar parte en mesas de decisión del Norte y por qué es necesario.
* También, qué inconvenientes ven en el Norte para hacerlo.
* Cuáles son las barreras
* Cuáles son las cosas que facilitan la colaboración
* Identificar buenas prácticas
Podemos pensar en tener preguntas con enfoques ligeramente distintos dependiendo del grupo con el cual se identifiquen los/as participantes
4. ¿Se podrían organizar mini-workshops en comunidades interesadas?

# CW23 - Communities of practice and the pursue for Open science on a global scale
## Mini-workshop or demo session abstract
*If your session is accepted this abstract will be made public on the CW23 website, so please write this as a public description containing 200-400 words.*
Are the current concepts and practices around Open Science global and universal? This mini-workshop will offer a meeting point to discuss views and practical experiences from those who work in open science spaces to understand their impact in different regions.
Openness aims to support reproducibility, efficiency and better quality science, increased collaboration, and engagement between research and society that can lead to higher social and economic impacts of public research. But openness is highly situational, contingent and dependent on the privileges and local context of knowledge makers and gatekeepers.
Three communities of practices interested in the intersectionality of the concepts and practices currently used in open science get together to prepare this miniworkshop: LA-CoNGA physics, Metadocencia and The Turing Way. We would like to invite a diverse range of people (researchers, policy makers, and open science enthusiasts) working across various geographical regions to participate in an interactive survey pilot and facilitated discussion around the pursue for Open science on a global scale. The aim of the session will be to better understand the current barriers, successful practices and possible improvements needed for the implementation of Open Science outside of Europe and North America for, and how current policies may or may not align with various community best practices.
Understanding the current barriers, successful practices and possible improvements needed for the implementation of Open Science on a global scale is fundamental to ensure the sustainable career development of the researchers from and/or working in regions non traditionally represented in the usual open science forums.
The outcome of the session will be used as the basis for a survey project we want to do with open science actors in Latin America.
## Mini-workshop or demo session audience
*If your session is accepted this description of the intended audience for this session will be made public on the CW23 website to help participants choose which sessions to attend. Please include any prerequisites for participants, expected prior knowledge/skills needed, if any software/tools need to be installed prior to the session, or if there is a maximum/expected number of participants if necessary.*
This session will be relevant for all people (researchers, policy makers, and open science enthusiasts) interested in the intersectionality of the open science concept and practices. In particular people coming from and/or working in the Global South are very welcome to join and share their experience.
## Mini-workshop or demo session description
*Please describe your session's aims and outcomes, how the session connects to the themes of CW23, how the session will run (tentative format/agenda), and how the session will be inclusive of both in-person and remote participants. If you are proposing a 60-minute session, please outline how you plan to facilitate active participant engagement/interaction with both in-person and remote participants.*
We expect that the attendess of the CW23 event to be diverse and international.
The aim of this miniworkshop is to offer a meeting point to discuss views and practical experiences from those who work in open science spaces to understand their impact in different regions.
Agenda:
- 10' introduction: context, explain the dynamic of the miniworkshop, etc
- 10' Interactive survey pilot
- 10' Feedback time about points not covered by the survey pilot
Zoom will be available for people connecting remotely, as well as English captions. Our moderators will be mindful to include remote participants in the discussion. The agenda, workshop strategy and notes will be made available in advance and will remain available after the workshop in case asyncronous participants wants to contribute to the discussion.
## Any special requirements or other information you would like to include about your proposed session?
*For example, will you need extra helpers provided or a specific technical setup? Will you need use of the CW23 Sli.do?*
We will benefit from using the CW23 Sli.do.
As well as support for captioning, if possible.
