A lot of people would really like a snow map. Herb's thread covers most of the points for having a terrestrial map, and I really hope OldPotato's map gets finished. That said, this is my own proposal for one. I've made a forum post about it here to gather opinions The quad shape image This design features a whole four domes. The domes are (in clockwise order) bridge/sec, engineering, civilian, and medsci. Plotted it out with two airbridges per connection, possibly so that pipes and wires could run between the two and be "shielded". Even if one airbridge is destroyed/blocked off, you can go the long way around. Or just walk outside idk. Sitting in the centre is a snow garden. Could have penguins or something.

hello, im tyrant. I'm proud to present my original station concept: Solaris Station. Acronym could be like Stellar oscillaton light aided resonance in stars or some nonsense if necessary, but it doesn't need an acronym really. It's solaris. Alternative names are also under consideration. Aetherion2 (lol), Typhonic, maybe even watchful eye observatory... old design it's a bit more square here, but in reality will end up triangular due to the light refracting around the shield. The old design also involves power generation from cooling the heat shield and not from actually using any sort of photovoltaic principle (which is a bit silly). The lore

Once when playing medical I thought to myself, huh, these gamers just get healed up and then go on their way, no follow up appointments or suffer any real long term effects (mostly). Quite different to how real life treatments are, with month long recoveries and stuff. Then I thought hey what if bones broke and you had to get casts and stuff. Tada. Okay so what's being added Each limb would get the ability to get broken (not torso or heads though because that'd be complex. Well, maybe ribs could get broken, but that's it). The broken limb would then debuff you in terms of movement speed and dexterity, possibly giving you more brute damage if you keep trying to use those limbs. The break doesn't add damage by itself (unless you abuse it as mentioned), and using a brute automender continuously until 0 brute health wouldn't repair the break. The break itself would show up on a basic scan, or even an examine text.so it turns out that all /obj/item/parts i.e. body parts already sorta have bones (and so do /obj/item/organs??). So I don't have to actually code much of anything for this bit other than when the actual breaks happen plus some miscellaneous tidy up. To heal a broken limb, you need to set the broken limbs in place (not clear on how that'd be done yet, maybe just help intent on the limb, causing damage and pain at the time, or maybe just automatically assumed) and then put a cast on it. For regular casts, you'd apply fibreglass bandages which would set and make a cast on the offending limb. The cast would then have to be removed after a set amount of time by some kind of saw. The fibreglass bandages would come out of a medical fabricator, and there'd be some lying around at roundstart. An alternative to a cast would be a splint, which would provide a little less support and heal a little slower, but it'd be able to be reused, unlike the bits of cast that get sawn off. Provides a few more options for doctors. There'd be different ones for arms and legs though, which is a bit of a downside.

The idea of Solaris Station is that it's being bombarded with solar radiation very strongly. This doc outlines in great detail what that entails. The actual radiation Current idea involves new turfs/walls. Assume the star is to the south of the map. Hot space, which is unshielded space. The diffraction shock cone, which separates hot space and cold space with a boundary. It would also have to curve inwards using some funky maths in order to accurately simulate the behaviour of light diffracting around solid objects. Non Knife edge diffraction is what applies here. cold space (regular space) which would have to interact with the diffraction shock cone in new ways. Heat Shielding, which is a plasma cooled solid wall which blocks the radiation coming from the South of the map Every other tile which is not boxed within the refractive shock cone and heat shielding (and the north edge of the map) needs to be either hot space or violently changed by radiation in some way. This involves basically igniting most items, vaporizing a lot of things, and burning turfs. A lot of work.
