# Manifesting DAOhaus Vision
[Workshop script](https://hackmd.io/DWTKOItyQg6N2vSDEilsHw?view)
Based on [notes from Round 1](https://hackmd.io/9yCM3a-6RM2ZYWERIMGAoQ?edit)/3 of the *Vision and Values* workshop.
**We Believe in the Power of Purpose-Driven Communities**

At the outset of this experiment we ask ourselves some questions. *What is the scope? What is the appropriate level of fidelity?* The leverage of this moment is leading to Yeeter at ETH Denver. We are trying to explain to users that might not be aware of what DAOhaus is. Therefore, let's focus on **DAOhaus as a generalized concept.**
We are a community dedicated to making things work. We have a longer term vision than most; we aren't looking for the quick win. We are passionate about what we're doing. We are the rebels, geeks, visionaries, and underdogs. We are the people who care way too much about DAOs.
Work is play! You can't "work too much" if you love work. Our work is super fun and we know we have each other's backs. Our colleagues are also our friends. We choose not to work with assholes that tell us what to do. We work with integrity, with people of integrity. We are action-oriented people, not just talkers. We are outsiders, innovators, and weirdos. We are NOT Starbucks. We are the opposite of 24/7 Capitalism.
- We are builders.
- We are building for humans, not profit.
- We are building for humans, not a paycheck.
We embody the change we want to see and this informs how we work. We are building fun, powerful, and interesting technology *without accidentally consolidating power along the way.* Multiple perspectives are always more valuable than a single shouting voice. We know from experience that value emerges from serendipity, from a bottom-up approach, rather than top-down dominance. We believe that protocols must support humans, not the other way around. No to paperclip optimizers!
We are building together. The product reflects our values and vice versa. The values reflect the people and that's why we stand behind what we build. Rather than a Declaration of Independence, maybe we are drafting a Declaration of Interdependence? Experimentation is key! We are excited to fail, early and often.
Why do we exist as a DAO? **"Of all the things we could be doing right now, why are we building DAOhaus?"** We want to help people! This has been the most rewarding part of our professional lives. **Not everybody loves Fugazi. We hate the Eagles.**
We know the infrastructure and tools must be considered alongside the social and cultural elements as all are important for what we are doing. We are facillitating humans to manifest themselves (as communities) in the way that they want without being captured by hierarchies. This is an opportunity to not simply express our values and goals, but also articulate how they might differ from others. We seek to put every member of a community in power, to distribute power through a community. We are **not** trying to build for giant protocol DAOs. We support human communities.
We want humans to be able to coordinate without others trying to extract value from them. This requires constant experimentation alongside building tools explicitly for that purpose. We know it's more about discovering and nurturing than it is inventing. There's vast proof of social actions that validate these motivations *(insert link here)*. We have dedicated ourselves to meditating upon the core problems of distributing power in a community. This experience continues to inform our values.
We seek to lay the foundation, upend the status quo, ask the difficult questions others have stopped asking. We question the assumptions that have been drilled into our heads about coordination, collaboration, and value transfer. We are told that it must be this way, but we are exploring alternatives. It's a punk approach! We question authority. It's more than mere rejection; we are questioning everything. It's dishonest to do things any other way.
- We strive first to generate community, not profits.
- We strive first to coordinate, not control.
- We strive first to collaborate, not compete.
- We strive first to create value, not extract.
- We strive first to be inclusive, not exclusive.
- We strive first for community, but individuals are still important.
- We strive first to build in public, not in secret.
- We strive for qualitative value creation over quantitative.
