# Caretakers Circle for Regenerative Grants Research: Proposal v1

### Objective:
- Grow the coliving initiative.
- Encourage more intentional contributors to join the Cabin community.

### Results:
- Evidence to support a novel approach to a sustainable Cabin grants pipeline, delivered as a report.
- Documentation to strategize on an intentional knowledge sharing culture for the community of caretakers, disseminated through regular community updates and forum posts.
- A regenerative economic/social/cultural primitive that can be migrated to future nodes of the Cabin neighborhood network to ensure their success, demonstrated through %APR to the Cabin DAO treasury.

### Budget

- **Requesting $200k USDC** to run the DeFi experiment.
- 100% of the USDC principle will be returned to the DAO.
- **Total = $24k $CABIN + yields from the experiment**
- Compensation = $100/hr @ 3hrs/week per caretaker x 5 caretakers = $4800 (as $CABIN) per caretaker.

### Timeline

- Suggested 16 weeks (4 month pilot) minimum to provide meaningful results.
- Could be expanded to 6 months+, *or even infinitely if the DAO desires.*
- No milestones, just one ongoing experiment/conversation with continuous weekly updates.
- Caretakers will meet weekly for 1hr to ideate research, share knowledge, and converge on strategy.
- Each member will conduct 2hr independent async research on various topics.
- At the end of the pilot, a comprehensive research report and proposed grant strategy design will be delivered to the DAO.

### Goal

- Articulate a viable web3 stack and DeFi strategy that can be migrated to other neighborhoods.
- Craft a manner of socializing and knowledge sharing to set a precedent for culture building across caretakers that can be distributed throughout the network.
- Instill caretakers with agency and autonomy through information and resources to conduct their neighborhoods with their own unique idiosyncratic methods.

### Preliminary Stack

- Governance
- Summon a DAO. Moloch-style DAO managed via the DAOhaus UI.
- Setup a shared *minion* (Gnosis Safe with the Caretakers and Cabin core team as signers).
- Caretaker goverance is conducted via on-chain proposal flow.
- New concepts and WIP research are published via a public forum until an appropriate distribution mechanism is decided by the Cabin DAO community.
- Social
- Cultivate an awareness of qualitative value alongside the quantitative.
- Emphasize conviviality, cooperation, and collaboration as key tenets of successful coordination.
- Nurture and demonstrate a practice of self-aware emotional intelligence in gatherings and community design.
- Economic
- Elaborate and deploy a regenerative DeFi stack strategy (outlined below).
- Provide an alternative to the rent extraction model to alleviate money concerns for future neighborhood founders.
- Generate yields with existing Cabin DAO treasury to supply the grant pipeline. Grants will distribute yield without diminishing the principle investment.
- Prepare to hand off the DeFi yield-farming strategies to future grant recipients to empower them with the tools they need to be self-sustaining and self-sovereign in their local community designs.
- Emergent Strategy
- Referencing adrienne marie brown: emergence = an organic growth from a collective; strategy = a trajectory for how to proceed, accompannied by a manner of adapating when we encounter the inevitable unexpected frictions.
- To serve as a strategic primitive for determining fitness for future neighborhoods, to ensure competence and interdependence of caretakers to nurture their community.

### Core Caretaker Characteristics

- We propose a pivot in the Cabin DAO neighborhood caretaker personna. New neighborhood requirements currently consist of:
- fast wifi
- accomodations for 8+ folx
- nature out the door
- convenient to an airport
- These characteristic cater to a remote/nomadic tech worker motivated by convenience, implicitly extended to the caretaker of that property. We proposed an alternative personna for the future neighborhood caretaker. A fit caretaker should demonstrate:
- self-awareness
- resilient, agile critical/design thinking
- history of practice of emotional intelligence in social groups
- understanding of the fundamental networked interrelations of people and place
- commitment to sustainability in natural and economic systems

### Preliminary Sketch for a Regen DAO Treasury Strategy
- Core idea: **let's design a mechanism that takes money out of our existential equation by creating a regenerative UBI for contributors!**
- Work with devs to automate limits at programmed safety thresholds.
- Straightforward diversification scheme that adapts to shifting market volatility:
- Paranoid Bear: stable position in RAI
- 100% LP'd (RAI/DAI) to earn ~7.5% yields
- $200k position yields $15k annually
- Comfy Crab: lateral position
- 50% LP'd (RAI/ETH) to earn ~8.21% yields
- 50% LP'd (GTC/ETH) to earn ~ 57%
- $200k position yields $8,210 + $57k = $65,210 annually
- YOLO Bull: high risk high yield
- Tight LP positions (GTC/ETH, etc) to earn 150%+
- $200k position yields $300k annually
