# DAOhaus Manifesto *Vision & Values* [Workshop](https://hackmd.io/DWTKOItyQg6N2vSDEilsHw?view): Round 1
[Workshop script](https://hackmd.io/DWTKOItyQg6N2vSDEilsHw?view)
### Initial Questions
- What is the scope? What is the appropriate level of fidelity? War Camp, UH, DH in the broadest sense? We should decide before beginning.
- HausDAO Manifesto
- War Camp Manifesto: attracting additional contributors
- DAOhaus Constitution
- Uberhaus Constitution: issues related to governance
- The leverage of this moment is leading to Yeeter at ETH Denver. We are trying to explain to users that aren't aware of what DH is. Therefore, **DAOhaus as a generalized concept should be the focus.**
- This means An entity composed of all the other entities.
### Presentation of Values
Dekan:
- A community dedicated to making things work.
- We have a longer term vision. We aren't looking for the quick win. We are passionate about what we're doing.
- The rebels, geeks, visionaries, and underdogs.
- People who care way too much about DAOs.
- Work is play! You can't "work too much" if you love work.
Sam:
- Want a super fun environment. We have each others back. Friends with who you work with. We don't want to make more assholes telling each other what to do.
- More integrity from the people around us.
- Action oriented people, not just talkers.
- Outsiders, innovators, weirdos. NOT Starbucks.
- DAOs as anti-FOMO, the opposite of 24/7 Capitalism world.
Ven:
- Building for humans, not profit.
- Building for humans, not paycheck.
Spencer:
- We embody the change we want to see. This inflects on how we work. Everything we are building towards is how to do stuff that is fun, powerful, and interesting *without accidentally consolidating power along the way.*
- Multiple perspectives are always more valuable than a single shouting voice. Interesting valuable things will emerge from serendipity, bottom-up approach, rather than top-down.
- Protocols must support humans, not the other way around. No paperclip optimizers!
Travii:
- We are building together. The product reflects the values and vice versa. The values reflect the people and that's why we stand behind what we build.
- Rather than a Declaration of Independence, maybe a Declaration of Interdependence?
- Experimentation is key! We should be excited to fail.
### Moving Towards a Purpose Statement
Why do we exist as a DAO? Not a pitch; an emotional statement underneath the product we are building. Not a prescriptive tagline; a simple shareable statement that invites wider cultural alignment. **"Of all the things you could be doing right now, why DAOhaus?"**
Sam:
- I want to help people! This has been the most rewarding part of professional life and I want to help people doing what we're doing.
- **Not everybody loves Fugazi. We're not the Eagles.**
Spencer:
- Both infrastructure and tools, as well as social and cultural elements, are important for what we are doing. We are facillitating communities of humans to manifest themselves (as communities) in the way that they want without being capture by hierarchies.
- The opportunity is not simply in expressing our values and goals, but also articulating how they might differ from others.
- Are values are to put every member of a community in power, to distribute power through a community.
- Helpful to define what we are not:
- We are not trying to build for giant protocol DAOs. This doesn't work for our focus on supporting human communities.
Ven:
- I want humans to be able to coordinate without other trying to extract from them. This requires experimentation on what this even means, alongside building tools explicitly for that purpose.
- More about discovering and nurturing than it is inventing.
- There's vast proof of social actions that validate these motivations.
- We have dedicated our time to meditating upon the core problem (of distributing power in a community). This experience continues to inform our values.
Dekan:
- Lay the foundation, upend the status quo, ask questions people stop asking.
- We do things differently in seeking answers in a new way.
- We question the assumptions that have been drilled into our heads about coordination, collaboration, and value transfer. We are told that it must be this way, but we are exploring alternatives.
- There are new angles we have to explore.
Travii:
- Punk approach! We question authority and do things differently. Not mere rejection, but questioning everything. It's dishonest to do things any other way.
- We are articulating an alternative!
### Distilled Values:
- We are driven by community first, not profits.
- We strive first to coordinate, not control.
- We strive first to collaborate, not compete.
- We strive first to create value, not extract.
- We strive first to be inclusive, not exclusive.
- We strive first for community, but individuals are still important.
- We strive first to build in public, not in secret.
- We strive for qualitative value creation over quantitative.
