Amsterdam, Netherlands 13 May 2025 — 
To The Moon is a powerful two-part feminist art exhibition curated by Claudia Partac, uniting nine artists in a collective act of resistance and renewal. Opening this summer in Amsterdam, the exhibit occupies two distinct venues: Studio 239 on Prinsengracht and Het Salon on Condensatorweg.

In a time of rising patriarchal authoritarianism, To The Moon offers a cathartic alternative. Through a diverse range of media and perspectives, the exhibition celebrates the possibilities of feminist imagination and once again demonstrates that women’s freedom remains a radical ideal.

To The Moon is een krachtige, tweedelige feministische kunsttentoonstelling gecureerd door Claudia Partac, waarin negen kunstenaars samenkomen in een collectieve daad van verzet en vernieuwing. De tentoonstelling opent deze zomer in Amsterdam en vindt plaats op twee verschillende locaties: Studio 239 aan de Prinsengracht en Het Salon aan de Condensatorweg.

In een tijd van oprukkend patriarchaal autoritarisme biedt To The Moon een alternatief dat zowel bevrijdend als helend is. Met een diversiteit multidisciplinaire kunstwerken en perspectieven viert de tentoonstelling de kracht van feministische verbeelding en toont ze opnieuw aan dat de vrijheid van vrouwen nog altijd een radicaal ideaal is.

To The Moon is a feminist art exhibit curated by Claudia Partac, gathering nine women artists in a collective act of resistance and renewal. Taking place June 28–29 at Prinsengracht 239, Amsterdam, the exhibition invokes the moon as a symbol of the feminine—hidden yet luminous and powerful. In the face of rising patriarchy and global unrest, we offer an alternative: art as connection, defiance, and hope.

**Long description:**
The Moon is the symbol of universal cycles: the ebb and flow of tides, day and night, rise and fall. It is also the archetype of the feminine, both hidden and luminous, often unseen yet powerful, feared and misunderstood. 2025 opens within a historical cycle on the waning end of a long period of stability that bears striking echoes of the early 20th century. After major civil liberties had been won in the 19th century, patriarchal backlash ensued. Breakneck technological changes undid societies, empires collapsed, and dictators rose to power as violent nationalism swept up millions in global conflagration. The disaster of this era took decades to repair, while some of the damage haunts us still.

Now, as that repair looks set to be undone by a new wave of patriarchal backlash with nationalist fervor and violent autocrats on the rise once again, we feel it is the time to offer an alternative. We, as women and artists, refuse to succumb to the forces of violence and patriarchy, and have decided to come together to put forth an alternative perspective. Yes, we are afraid but we are also angry, and in this anger there is love and a desire to see the world on a better path than the one that aims at control, violence, war, and suppression. We offer connection and a collaborative spirit, the nourishing and nurture of ideas, space for agency and community, for grace and for freedom. To this end, we embody the moon, the archetypal feminine, the force that turns the tides with power and intensity day and night, again and again going from darkness to a new dawn. –

Gevestigd aan de Prinsengracht 239 in Amsterdam, op 28 en 29 juni, roept de expositie de maan op als krachtig, verborgen en vrouwelijk symbool—kunst als verbinding, verzet en hoop.

De maan staat voor universele cycli: het komen en gaan van getijden, dag en nacht, opkomst en ondergang. Ze is het archetype van het vrouwelijke—verborgen maar stralend, vaak ongezien en toch krachtig, gevreesd en verkeerd begrepen. 2025 begint in een historische cyclus die opvallende gelijkenissen vertoont met het vroege 20e-eeuwse tijdperk: na de verworvenheden van de 19e eeuw volgde een patriarchale terugslag. Versnellende technologische veranderingen destabiliseerden samenlevingen, rijken stortten in, dictators kwamen aan de macht, en gewelddadig nationalisme sleurde miljoenen mensen mee in wereldoorlogen. De nasleep hiervan duurde decennia, met littekens die tot op heden voelbaar zijn.

Vandaag dreigt die herstelde balans opnieuw te kantelen. Met de opkomst van nieuwe autocraten, patriarchaal geweld en nationalistische retoriek kiezen wij, als vrouwen en kunstenaars, ervoor om niet te zwijgen. Wij weigeren ons neer te leggen bij onderdrukking en kiezen bewust voor een ander pad. Ja, we zijn bang, maar onze woede is doordrenkt met liefde—met een diep verlangen naar verbinding, ruimte voor gemeenschap, ideeën, autonomie en tederheid. Daarom keren wij terug naar de maan: de oerkracht van het vrouwelijke, die de getijden blijft keren—dag en nacht, van duister naar nieuw begin.
