Sommige dingen gaan niet volgens plan. Richard is een filmmaker die al een tijdje niet meer weet wat hij aanmoet met zijn creativiteit. Als Richard na lang twijfelen Rob de Vries, filmmaker die onverschrokken de gehele homo-emancipatie in Rotterdam heeft vastgelegd, gaat bezoeken om hem te spreken voor zijn film blijkt hij net overleden. Richard is echter gefascineerd wat het maakte dat hij zulke dynamische, kleurige beelden en de vreemde inhoud die de filmmaker heeft bedacht. Hij probeert zijn antwoord te vinden door met verschillende mensen te praten die dicht bij Rob stonden. Waaronder zijn oud-huurder en vriend Milad Beyli, die Rob dood aantrof maar ook gasten van de Roze Salon, een vereniging voor homosexuele ouderen om bij elkaar tekomen, die terugblikken op Rob en wat hij voor de Roze Salon heeft gedaan maar ook wat het maakt sommigen bij de vereniging nog steeds niet uit de kast durven te komen. In de Roze salon komt Richard er echter acghter dat Rob een antagonistische vader had die hem strijdbaar had gemaakt. Echter, ook milad merkt op dat Rob zichzelf ook soms te veel voor anderen zet. Uiteindelijk moet Richard toegeven dat hij uiteindelijk niks heeft kunnen leren over een bepaalde ‘stijl’ die Rob aanhing en dat zijn werk is voortgekomen uit zichzelf accepteren zoals hij was en volgen wat hij goed vind.
