# So, why a museum for HKers? [中文版本](https://hackmd.io/@0L0s7xzvT12G3RDDlzhjJg/B1eOPYjyi) Once. there was a museum for 1989 Jun 4 in Hong Kong. Once, protest arts were all over the walls in Hong Kong. It is always our responsibility to tell the truth hidden by the CCP. Despite of that we are not in Hong Kong anymore. Still, we should carry our responsibilities: - To the world, we tell the truth of Hong Kong and unravel CCP's lies; - To our children, we teach them why we are here, what we are fighting for; - To ourselves, we stay strong together as Hongkongers, for the fallen souls and our hearts. # What will you put there? Mostly about the 2019 Hong Kong movement, from 6.9 until the end of AppleDaily, from local fights to global lobbying. People who visit will understand the cause of the movement and how it escalated in time. Protest arts, posters and flags will undoubtedly be featured in the majority of the museum, while physical collections will be hard for us to obtain, for example the thousands of tear gas collected at CUHK. We will try to replicate some of the major scene with 3D models, for our visitors to get a sense of it. If our budget allows us, we would love to put everything listed below, with a restaurant and souvenir shop. We would like to have everything listed in Section 2 and a souvenir shop at least. We will spend our profits over expansion. ## 1: The Build Up (1,600 ft. sq.) - Brief history of colonization and asylum (200 ft sq.) - Food, music, novel and movie culture (200 ft sq.) - 1989 Massacre, 1997 Handover and the first wave of immigration (400 ft. sq.) - 2003 - 2013 Law Article 23, High Speed Rail, Reclaim Sheung Shui (200 ft. sq) - 2014 Occupying Central, The Failed Umbrella Movement (400 ft. sq) - Post-Umbrella Parties, The Long Silence, Pro-Independence (200 ft. sq) ## 2: The On-Going Revolution & The symbols (3,200 ft. sq.) ### The Timeline - 6.9 & Prior (200 ft. sq.) - The City of Tear Gas (200 ft. sq.) - The United Police and Gangster (200 ft. sq.) - Targeting University Students: CUHK & PolyU (200 ft. sq.) - The Gunshot & The Short Sweet Vicotry at District Council Election (200 ft. sq.) - The Arrestment (200 ft. sq.) ### The Symbols - G20 and Twitter (200 ft. sq.) - The Raincoat (200 ft. sq.) - 光復香港,時代革命 & The Hong Kong Way (200 ft. sq.) - Livestreams, Be Water, HKmap.live & Yellow & Blue Map (200 ft. sq.) - The 'National Anthem' Glory to Hong Kong (200 ft. sq.) ### Global Continuation & Collaboration - British Gov and the HKers in UK (200 ft. sq.) - Global Continuation (200 ft. sq.) - Taiwan, Uyghurs, Tibetan (200 ft. sq.) ### Thinking Room (400 ft. sq.) - Why HKers love British Colonization? - Western democracy does not work with Asians? - Is it wise to fight a seemingly un-winnable war? Or to dodge a war for justice? [More details of the rooms...](https://hackmd.io/@0L0s7xzvT12G3RDDlzhjJg/rkLwdKoys) ## 3: Optional Side Topics This section is for topics matching our goals while not directly related to Hong Kong. Might be added after the previous sections are well operated. #### Break the lies of CCP - KMT's revolution in China - What is Cultural Revolution? - Three-anti and Five-anti Campaigns ### Threaten by the CCP - Tibet - East Turkestan - Taiwan ## 4: Souvenir Shop & Restaurant The Souvenir Shop will be operated directly by Museum staffs, selling protest product by the museum, or sourced by the museum staffs. Learning material for Cantonese/Hong Kong Tongue, and publishment from other anti-ccp groups will be listed as well. The Restaurant will be lended to company serving Cantonese/Hongkong-style food. The restaurant operation will be independent from the Museum to stay for-profit and competitive. ## 5: A Small Cinema Aimed to be a permanent site for screening protest movies during weekends. Booked by tickets. Will play protest arts, songs, short videos when idle. Can be used to host talks or small conferences. # How to operate? £5 admission fee per adult, separated price for families and job-seekers. Major incomes will be donation, selling souvenir and serving food at the restaurant. Permanent full time will work for the core operation. Part-time or volunteer will help to fill positions like receptionist. To afford such a museum, we will need an initial funding that's big enough to cover: two-year of salary, two-year of rental costs of the place, and the initial design and set up costs for the exhibition. Depending on the fund, there are two options: 1. To rent a ground floor and a first floor, showing only Section 2, with restaurant and souvenir shop at ground floor. 2. To purchase a huge building (big Tesco size), with all 5 sections mentioned above. # Where tho? Ealing is our first consideration. As Ealing has hosued many Hongkongers and it is close to Central London. It will be easier for us to hire Cantonese Speakers or Hongkongers to work, easier for the museum to spread in the Hongkonger's community, and allow easy visits from nearby Hongkongers. Being close to London, allow visitors from UK or other countries to visit us easily. We could join the rank of The Musical Museum and The Museum of Water and Steam, as the first historical museum, describing the Hongkongers living nearby, for museum geeks to visit.
