Recorded Music Analysis 2: Stairway To Heaven ========= Stairway to Heaven, released in 1971 was first conceived as a result of a trip to Bron-Yr-Aur, a remote cottage in Wales where Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were spending some time after the groups fifth american tour. The most intriguing thing about this song to me, besides the beautiful solo at the end; is the intro and the use of recorded to invoke a aura of the renaissance. I think this song is so interesting because it is representative of the experimental composition of rock music within the 60s and 70s and the way in which emotion was channeled through music to foster the counter-culture anti-establishment movement of the time.
