# Toolbox Arena Mapping Guidelines

* Toolbox arenas must be 17 tiles wide by 10 tiles tall,
and do not require closed turf boarders at the top and bottom
* The maps should be physically symmetrical about the y axis, left vs right
Visual symmetry is not required
* The main threat should always be the enemy team
(e.g. avoid hostile mobs, slipping hazards, and deadly traps)
* The arenas should focus on toolboxing (e.g. avoid providing alternate weapons)
* Closed turfs that block vision should have set `opacity = 0`
as well as large opaque objects like mechs
* **The `icon_state` for anything and `dir` for turfs (like stairs)
overrides do not work with arena maps**
* Use `/area/centcom/tdome/arena` for the area
* Don't forget the teams start from opposite sides with
synchronized shutters so try not to block off the sides
(too much) with things like tables and walls; see the pic
below for reference
* No strict restrictions on theme but if you want to follow
the event theme then by all means go for it
* No pure lava tiles, even when edited to be harmless,
use instead for themeing the lava with rocks or a catwalk
* If you can think of any other guidelines give
Wayland#4200 a DM or ping and we can discuss
implementation
The plating tiles (grey boring ones with the blue Xs)
are where your arena will be loaded in.
