Misuse of Drugs Amendment Bill 2020 === ### 1. Title This Act may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Amendment Act 2020. ### 2. Commencement This Act comes into force one month after the date on which it receives the Royal assent. ### 3. Purpose The purpose of this Act is to relegalise thalidomide as made illegal by the Misuse of Drugs (Pseudoephedrine Liberalization) Amendment Act 2020, to revert to the less restrictive temporary class drug notice system, and to legalise a number of amphetamines. #### Part 1: Repeal of the Misuse of Drugs (Pseudoephedrine Liberalization) Amendment Act 2020 ### 4. Principal Act This Part amends the Misuse of Drugs (Pseudoephedrine Liberalization) Amendment Act 2020 (the principal Act). ### 5. Repeal of the Misuse of Drugs (Pseudoephedrine Liberalization) Amendment Act 2020 The Misuse of Drugs (Pseudoephedrine Liberalization) Amendment Act 2020 is repealed. #### Part 2: Repeal of the Psychoactive Substances Act 2013 ### 6. Principal Act This Part amends the Psychoactive Substances Act 2013 (the principal Act). ### 7. Repeal of the Psychoactive Substances Act 2013 The Psychoactive Substances Act 2013 is repealed. #### Part 3: Amendment to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 ### 8. Schedule 2 amended (1) The item relating to amphetamine in clause 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 2 is omitted. (2) The items relating to ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, norpseudoephedrine, and cathinone in clause 1 of Part 2 of Schedule 2 are omitted. ### 9. Schedule 3 amended (1) The item relating to amphetamine analogues in Part 7 of Schedule 3 is omitted. ### 10. Schedule 4 amended (1) The items relating to ephedrine and pseudoephedrine in clause 1 of Part 3 of Schedule 4 are omitted. ### 11. Schedule 5 amended (1) The items relating to amphetamine, ephedrine, and pseudoephedrine in clause 1 of Schedule 5 are omitted.
