## The strat Self farm 8mod deli maps and harbi scarabs to be able to self sustain and make a profit running them. ## Farming maps To start we want to build up a nice amount of maps to run. These maps will be 8 mods (thanks to the Cartography Scarab of Corruption) and will have delirium orbs pre-applied to them (thanks to the Delirium Scarab of Delusions). Yes the reward types will be random, no we really don't care as we will profit off of t17 maps and scarab drops mainly. We have 2 main setups we can run to farm these maps: the first one is basically "free" because we only need to stock up on the used Scarabs and nothing else; the second one requires a little more setup and it's riskier, but the rewards are very much higher. Both setups require the same scarabs, the only difference is in the Atlas Tree and the maps we run: in the first case we run any map we want rolled for high pack size, while in the second case we run Vaal Temple maps (I swear I am not trolling!). ### The free setup - Atlas tree: [poeplanner](https://poeplanner.com/atlas-tree/BAAQAIQAh9RfPniAYw9LMuu7TPUklwBIsvreoosuhrQskrePXaAIesHubYj45cAqp-LqeDxZIWDzW8wP-woo55Mt8jiMQbLFtWZenbWqzlrJ_Uy6fVqN6rCSCguovCq72Vu92uT3HwC3XX2RCnsOSt7-qgqxnd9jEKGxl2iJKl7Uj4ed0MbDebXYgqe9xymNjjlZhoJRN-PEps9H8ICzxxkK-7HiDqLQ4AxfSrAIyxchTA32kc4XUDakxB-u76seE332dTCG0RkZlP21GIvm1sGvC3E6duXs_W1xC4_lAzAUF4gH2vogM7cPwnaJo9lcqUNH-n4MtWOgcT8IuWJAaOQzmq9vOLJozvvpZ9AoFAAfiwgAAAAAAAADAwAAAAAAAAAAAA==) - Scarabs: - 2x Cartography Scarab - 1x Cartography Scarab of Corruption - 1x Delirium Scarab of Delusions - Eater of Worlds influence (priority on map dupe mods, then all quant mods, except if you find a divine altar) - Whatever mechanic you like on map device (ones that don't require much investment and generate nice loot are best, like legion, harbinger, blight, ritual, beyond or even delirium) We chisel, alch and roll our map of choice for 29%+ pack size (I personally exalt for 6 mods). I suggest to choose the map device crafting option based on the map layout you run (eg. choosing Legion in Defiled Cathedral is a waste of money). #### Personal experience I personally have run about 20 maps this way and self farmed about 50 8 mod deli maps. I think you can expect between 2 and 5 8mod deli maps dropping per map you run. Sometimes I also dropped some t17, which is a nice bonus (be aware that even tho t17s cannot be corrupted, they **will** drop with delirium applied to them). Alva is there to drop loot basically. Yes you can actually build a sellable temple and make a couple divs extra, but I personally don't and just kill the rightmost architect and open the closest door/s to me. If I get a decent temple by chance, I set it aside and run it later, but most of the time I just toss it on the ground, while not breaking eye contact with Alva, just to assert dominance. ### The high risk/high reward setup - Atlas tree: [poeplanner](https://poeplanner.com/atlas-tree/BAAQAIQAh9RfPniAYw9LMuu7TPUklwBIsvreoosuhrQskhCsGYhdoAh6we6EKm2IwCqn4up4PFkhYPNbMPoo55Mt8jiMQbLFtWZenc5ayf1Mun1ajeoKC6i8KrvZW73a5PcfALddi-F9kd7-qgrfYxChsZfAEmiJi3NnYCpe1I-HndDGK5y12IKnvcdFWCmNjjlZhoJR-vg34wD5z0fwgLPHGQr7sVWG4g5OG6LQ4AxfSssXIUzFIZHO1eoXUDakxB-u7xN99nUwhhmU_bUYi8GvC3E6duXs_W09NHELj-UDMBQXiAczxtGKtw_Cdomj2VypQ34MtWOgcWYfPwi5YkBo5DOar284zvvpZ9AoFAAfiwgAAAAAAAADAwAAAAAAAAAAAA==) - Scarabs: - 2x Cartography Scarab - 1x Cartography Scarab of Corruption - 1x Delirium Scarab of Delusions - Eater of Worlds influence (priority on map dupe mods, then all quant mods, except if you find a divine altar) - Fortune Favours the Brave on map device (we get 2 crafts thanks to Bold Undertakings and both will get randomised thanks to Twist of Fate) Basically instead of using harbingers to scale beyond, we take advantage of the mobs that come out of the Vaal Temple boxes (all the nodes from the tree apply to those too, so additional pack of monsters, openable multiple times, etc) and farm those for maps. If and when the Vaal Vessels drop some maps, those too will be affected by both the Cartography Scarab of Corruption and the Delirium Scarab of Delusions. We cannot roll Vaal Temples for high packsize, but thanks to Twist of Fate we have 1-3 additional mods that get randomly selected when we open the map, making it possible to have a 11 mod map in the best case and a 5-6 mods map in the worst case, which is not too bad. Since the layouts might be bad, we take all the shrine nodes, so that at least we can zoom through the maps, get tanky and even do *tons of damage*. **BEWARE**: Because we are using Twist of Fate, we have no idea what mods will be on our maps. We could roll reflect, no regen, less aura effect, or anything else. Given this possibility, you should **not** be running this strategy unless your character can clear any map mod without too much hassle or risk. #### Personal experience With this second setup I found that on average I drop more 8 mod deli maps (around 5-8 per map). This setup is riskier because we have tu run unknown map mods (which can brick our build or straight up kill us) and because the map layout we run is randomised. We could end up getting a streak of good and fast maps (Strand, Mesa, Defiled Cathedral, Jungle Valley, etc), we could get a streak of very bad layouts (Cells, Thicket, Mineral Pools, Dungeon, etc) and anything in between. I personally love this strategy because Vaal Temples are not that expensive to buy in bulk and the vessels can drop very nice double corrupted uniques and jewels (reservation efficiency + corrupted blood immunity jewels with % life or % energy shield sell for quite a lot). I have now run about 30-35 Vaal Temples now and have a full tab of 8 mod deli maps to run with the farming setup, which is defenetly not bad. Again, because we use a Delirium Scarab of Delusions t17s will drop with delirium applied to them, I don't mind it because we can still sell them, but if you plan to run them yourself, take care to check if your build is strong enough. ## Farming Scarabs and t17s Once we have a nice amount of 8mod deli maps, we can start blasting them. Be careful that this next step requires a strong build and Headhunter is very much recommended. We juice the heck out of harbingers, which multiply the mob count thanks to Beyond. We make full use of the Harbinger Scarab of Regency, so that we end up having a lot of mobs being spawned in, which once killed spawn Beyond mobs that actually drop our loot. Since we lean so heavily into Harbingers, we also make use of the Harbinger Scarab of Discernment, so that we accumulate a nice amount of Orbs of Annulment, Ancient Orbs and Fracturing Orbs on the side. ### The setup - Atlas tree: [poeplanner](https://poeplanner.com/atlas-tree/BAAQAIQAh9RfPmMP0aFLMuu7TPUkl7L63qKHKYsuhrRdoAh6hCr-xfFUuP_AKup4PFkhYCIp81ukfzD6xLC9V5MtgLnyOIxBKm61ZhCAXp3OWo3qfsgKC9lb5PcfAIvhfZEKew5KYL_e_qoKnzuxnd9jEKFUH1m0aIkk0Spe1I-HndDGDPTDeYKnKY1ZhroAglE3439vZrK-Ds9HAJHwgLPHu-JOG6LQ4AxfSssXIUzPiS-okc4pYji_NqTEHxN99nUwhjgfd0IZlP21GIsLceXs_W1xC4_lAzAUF9r6M8bB-9ibtw_VaalDfgy1Y6BxZh8_CLliQGjkM5qvTPLotm84fusjQ0IczvvpZ9AoFAAfiwgAAAAAAAADAwAAAAAAAAAAAA==) - Scarabs: - 2x Harbinger Scarab - 1x Harbinger Scarab of Discernment - 1x Harbinger Scarab of Regency - Eater of Worlds influence (priority on quant mods, then all the dupe mods, except if you find a divine altar) - Harbinger on map device We don't need to roll our maps, since the previous strategies rolled them for us. Check very carefully the maps you cannot run because of reflect, no leech, no regen, whatever: you can sell those instead of running them. It's less profit, but they're not wasted. We block most of the league mechanics with the atlas tree, so that the relative scarabs also get blocked. This way we limit the pool of scarabs that can drop making it easier for the remaining ones to be the good ones. In the linked tree I left unblocked ritual and legion because I honestly like those mechanics. You can block all of them if you dont care, or leave out something else: blight and breach are very good too for example. ~~We have specced the Singular Focus keystone because we really don't care about map layouts that we don't want to run and also because the 17s drop rate is not affected by it: the t16 to t17 conversion apapparently happens *before* the t16 to currency conversion.~~ **EDIT**: This last info was probably wrong. It's quite likely that the conversion to t17 happens *when the maps drops*, which means that the t16 map **has to drop** for it to convert. There is also the hypothesis that the t17 that drops is based on the underlying t16 that got converted, instead of being fixed by the map you are dropping it in, but I need more testing before saying if it's true or not for certain. **EDIT 2**: Having run about 50 maps without Singular Focus specced, I can confidently say that the t17 maps drop based on the map/layout you are dropping them in (akin divination cards): In about 50 Jungle Valley maps I dropped 19 t17 Abomination maps and no other layout. If the t17 were dependant on the map it converted from, I would've expected *at least* one other layout to drop aswell. ### Personal experience (early results) I have run the aforementioned 50ish maps (53 iirc) and fully sustained all 4 types of Harbinger Scarabs. Yes it's a very low sample size, but I really believe this strat is solid and doesn't require too much trading (mainly trade for the Delirium Scarab of Delusions, as the others do drop in decent quantities). I have dropped a total of 18 tier 17 maps (including dupes from the altar mods) and 20 horned scarabs, which is not a bad result for having run only 50 maps. I might've been lucky, but the drops were very evenly spaced across maps, which makes me think that it's about the right drop rate. I also dropped 3 full Fracturing Orbs and 17 shards, along with LOTS of annulls and ancient orbs (no specific numbers here because I didn't count how many I had at the start of the test). As a bonus, I got almost a full tab of maps.
