It is a type of spinal cord injury that occurs due to severe compression. Now, the reason for compression could be many including trauma, degenerative issues, herniated disc, or congenital stenosis. If it occurs due to trauma, the condition is known as acute spinal cord injury whereas, if the reason is inflammatory, it is called myelitis.
