# $ROBOT Utility
### Core Concept
Introducing more clear-cut utility for $ROBOT would increase demand for the token which would drive the price up. That has 3 main benefits:
1) Number go up = robots happy.
2) Better foundation for a bigger valuation in case of a raise.
3) With increased trading volume, more people might be inclined to provide liquidity, creating a more liquid market that we can leverage to fund operations.
Right now, the benefits of holding $ROBOT are the following:
- Voting power (1+)
- Token-gated channels on Discord (10+)
- Early access to drops (250+)
- Ability to create proposals (1000+)
- Access to all financials (1000+)
- 10% Discount on products (1000+)

The main thought that come to mind when seeing the perks above is that they're too "confined" to internal operations of the DAO and only really matter to active participants. And even for them, sometimes the perks are a bit "muddy". While we definitely want to keep our holders base relevant, I believe that creating additional use-cases would get $ROBOT in the hands of people who might become interested in the DAO as an after-effect.
So instead of having DAO Members --> Utility, we'd have Utility --> DAO Members.
Come for the utility, stay for the culture.

### Additional $ROBOT Utility
**Token-gated drops**
Exclusive drops that are only accessible to $ROBOT holders. ([Here's an example of SuperRare doing it](https://twitter.com/SuperRare/status/1574813522055282693)). The benefit of having token-gated drops is that it creates an incentive for people to hold $ROBOT as opposed to selling it when the value goes up. Also, it's a one-time thing; people who hold X amount of $ROBOT will always be eligible for exclusive drops, no tiered approach.
The downside on the other hand is that it limits the amount of people who can purchase the exclusive drops, thus possibly restricting potential revenue.
**Discount for partners holding $ROBOT in treasury**
We can offer a production discount to partners who hold over a certain amount of $ROBOT in their treasury. That creates a long term allignment of incentives with the partners we collaborate with. And contrary to the token-gated drops, a tiered approach would make sense here.
**Holders Perks**
Right now, the roles of holders only have subtle differences between them apart from the different names and colours on Discord.

Some thoughts on the above are:
1. **Community Call.** The community call should be more accessible to interested parties. With ROBOT at under 10$, it's very easy to get into, but with ROBOT at $100, then it becomes pricy for no real reason.
2. **Governance Rights.** What does "Governance Rights" really mean? The ability to vote is open to anyone with 1+ ROBOT ([as seen in Snapshot](https://snapshot.org/#/metafactory.eth/about)). If it's reffering to the ability to introduce proposals/ideas in the governance forum, I don't see why we should restrict that. Especially when we already have a a restriction on who can bring votes to Snapshot.
3. **Alpha Leaks.** Not really a perk worth paying $500 (at current prices - waaaay more when ROBOT was higher). Especially since there's no real impact of knowing about a drop before it happens - at least not in the current market conditions.
4. **Influence on future drops**. I don't think there's a consistent way for a holder to actually influence drops in a different way than someone who just wants to create with us or generally just has cool ideas.
5. **Early access to drops.** This is a meaningful perk, but only when applied to limited drops. When it's about timed drops or open-edition style drops, it doesn't really add any value.
6. **Access to Financials.** I suppose that's referring to the financials of the LLC, since the DAO's treasury is known to everyone and is transparent. Not really sure what someone would do with that access, but nice to know that the data is accessible.
7. **Creating Proposals.** I'm a bit torn about this one. One the one hand, we defintitely want to limit who can create proposals on Snapshot. On the other hand, it creates a small bottleneck in operations when a vote needs to be created after discussion in the community call or on the governance forum, but only a handful of people can actually do it. Also, I don't think anyone would create pointless proposals on Snapshot if the required ROBOT was lower. And even if they did, creating the proposal is only half the work, you need people to vote too.
8. **10% Discount.** IMO that's one of the best and most meaningful advantages of holding ROBOT. I think we need more practical perks like this one to really bring attention to ROBOT.
I liked Arashi's idea of [MF Digital Passes that grant access to a pool of digital assets by Metafactory](https://hackmd.io/@arashichan/r1IF7fexi). However, instead of bringing this idea to life through the creation of NFTs that would look like a cash-grab, would further dillute the demand for ROBOT, we could introduce the idea as additional perks to the holder roles mentioned above.
