# Introduction
Super powering your chests since 2021 (2022?).
## Longer chest names
Pretty self-explanatory, allows fitting a longer custom chest name.
## Inserting items into chest names
Allows `[Alt]`+`[Left Click]`ing items while editing a chest name to insert the item. This requires *Longer chest names* to be enabled.
## Chest Modules
Chest modules are items, which can be put into a Chest Module Board. Their job is to modify how the chest they are applied to works in beneficial ways.
###  Chest Module Board
A Chest Module Board can be installed on any chest by just using it on one placed in the world.
To remove a Chest Module Board, just try to mine the chest (while both the chest and the board are empty). This will remove the board and drop it back as an item, while keeping the chest intact.
Interacting with a chest with the board installed brings up a modified chest UI, allowing you to additionally manage all the chest modules and their configuration.
The UI allows you to disable/enable all of the modules altogether (unless stated otherwise).
If the bottom half of a chest with a Chest Module Board installed receives a wire signal, it will toggle the module enablement state.
* The "bottom half" part is important, because the top half can be used for alternative functions of some of the chest modules.
A Chest Module Board can hold as many chest modules as you like, but only a single one of each type at once (unless specified otherwise by the module).
All modules are temporarily disabled when the chest is accessed by any player (unless specified otherwise by the module).
Sold by the [ Goblin Tinkerer](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Goblin_Tinkerer) for 50.
### Expansion Module
A module which adds additional slots to a chest.
An expansion module cannot be removed, if it's required to fit all of the items inside -- in this case items will have to be moved out manually first, then the expansion module can be removed.
You can have two expansion modules installed at once, but only the one with the greatest effect will be used. This can be used to temporarily ignore the above removal restriction when trying to upgrade an expansion module to a higher tier.
If a chest has an expansion module installed, the chest UI will contain a scrollbar. Scrolling via the mouse scroll wheel is also supported.
The expansion modules are always active -- they do not get disabled when a player interacts with their chest, nor can be temporarily disabled by the UI or sending a wire signal.
Some (most?) modules allow you to craft them via alternative recipes, allowing you to skip some of the requirements, use a different progression, or just use your unneeded extra materials, possibly even skipping module tiers.

### Sorting Module
A module which automatically sorts the contents of the chest it's installed in in some way.
Multiple *different* sorting modules are allowed. If a chest has multiple sorting modules installed, they will operate from the first one to the last one -- that is, if several items have exactly the same attributes that you sort on, then the next sorting module will take over.
Installing a sorting module disables the Sort button in the chest UI.
> It's not yet decided whether the sorting should be done client-side (only in the UI), or server-side. I can definitely see the benefit of doing it client-side (name sorting could use the client language), but it would probably be easier to develop if done server-side.
####  Sorting Module
* Sorts items the same as would the vanilla "Sort items" UI button.
* Crafting ([ Heavy Work Bench](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Heavy_Work_Bench)):
*  Any Silver Bar (4) + [ Lever](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Lever) + [ Wire](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Wire) (20)
*  Any Sorting Module + [ Wire](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Wire) (5)
####  Name Sorting Module
* Sorts items by their names, alphabetically, by default in an ascending order (configurable).
* Crafting ([ Heavy Work Bench](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Heavy_Work_Bench)):
*  Any Sorting Module + [ Ruler](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Ruler) + [ Wire](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Wire) (5)
> This crafting recipe is very unlikely to be final.
####  Damage Sorting Module
* Sorts items by their Damage stat, by default in a descending order (configurable).
* 3x Crafting ([ Heavy Work Bench](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Heavy_Work_Bench)):
*  Any Sorting Module (3) + [ Target Dummy](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Target_Dummy) + [ Wire](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Wire) (15)
> This crafting recipe is probably not final.
####  DPS Sorting Module
* Sorts items by their Damage stat, divided by their Use Time stat, by default in a descending order (configurable).
* 4x Crafting ([ Heavy Work Bench](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Heavy_Work_Bench)):
*  Any Sorting Module (4) + [ DPS Meter](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/DPS_Meter) + [ Wire](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Wire) (20)
####  Defense Sorting Module
* Sorts items by their Defense stat, by default in a descending order (configurable).
* 2x Crafting ([ Heavy Work Bench](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Heavy_Work_Bench)):
*  Any Sorting Module (2) + [ Obsidian Skull](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Obsidian_Skull) + [ Wire](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Wire) (10)
> This crafting recipe is probably not final.
####  Value Sorting Module
* Sorts items by their Value stat, by default in a descending order (configurable).
* Additionally, can be configured to sort by total stack value (instead of a single item).
* 4x Crafting ([ Heavy Work Bench](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Heavy_Work_Bench)):
*  Any Sorting Module (4) + [ Metal Detector](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Metal_Detector) + [ Wire](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Wire) (20)
###  Vacuum Module
A vacuum module, when installed, does three things, all of which are configurable:
* Acts in the same way as the "Quick Stack to nearby chests" button in the inventory UI, but does not require clicking (disabled by default).
* This is done only when a player gets in range of the chest and will not trigger again until the player leaves that range. This lets the player interact with the chest and its contents just fine to take out some of the items. At that point the player can leave the area and/or possibly Favorite the items they don't want to deposit again.
* Additionally, can be configured to work more like "Deposit All".
* Scoops in items laying on the ground in the near vicinity, putting them into the chest (enabled by default).
* Additionally, can be configured to only scoop in items that are already in the chest (akin to "Quick Stack").
* Sends a wire signal on the top half of the chest whenever chest contents change (enabled by default).
* Can be configured to also include or exclude manual changes when a player interacts with the chest manually (includes by default).
4x Crafting ([ Heavy Work Bench](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Heavy_Work_Bench)):
*  Any Silver Bar (16) + [ Treasure Magnet](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Treasure_Magnet) + [ Wire](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Wire) (80)
*  Any Silver Bar (16) + [ Celestial Magnet](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Celestial_Magnet) + [ Wire](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Wire) (80)
Crafting ([ Heavy Work Bench](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Heavy_Work_Bench)):
*  Any Silver Bar (4) + [ Any Conveyor Belt](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Conveyor_Belt) + [ Wire](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Wire) (20)
###  Dispenser Module
A restock module, when installed, does two (three) things, both (all) of which are configurable:
* Works in a similar way as the Restock button in the inventory UI does, but does not require clicking (disabled by default).
* This is done only when a player gets in range of the chest and will not trigger again until the player leaves that range. This lets the player interact with the chest and its contents just fine to put in some of the items. At that point the player can leave the area.
* One of two wire functions (cannot have two active at once):
* Dispenses a random item when the top half of the chest receives a wire signal (enabled by default).
* The direction the items are dispensed at is configurable in the UI.
* Sends a wire signal on the top half of the chest whenever chest contents change (disabled by default).
* Can be configured to also include or exclude manual changes when a player interacts with the chest manually (includes by default).
3x Crafting ([ Heavy Work Bench](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Heavy_Work_Bench)):
*  Any Silver Bar (12) + [ Geyser](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Geyser) + [ Wire](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Wire) (60)
Crafting ([ Heavy Work Bench](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Heavy_Work_Bench)):
*  Any Silver Bar (4) + [ Cog](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Cog) + [ Wire](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Wire) (20)
