# Alchemy Skill
Adds a new SpaceCore skill called Alchemy. The skill revolves around brewing potions and transmuting materials.
# Brewing
To brew a potion, you need to choose a "base" for the brew, and the ingredients that will be used together.
## Characteristics
Each brew base and ingredient has its own (good and/or bad) characteristics. To achieve a desired result, it may be necessary to add additional ingredients, which neutralize a bad effect of another ingredient.
### Flavor
Flavor is a characteristic which only matters if the brew is distilled into a self-usable (potion or ointment) form.
```
<---Disgusting---Tolerable---Neutral---Palatable---Cloying--->
-1 0 1
```
#### Disgusting
Can only be drank once per week.
#### Tolerable
Can only be drank once per day.
#### Neutral
Can only be drank once per 4 hours.
#### Palatable
No special effects.
#### Cloying
Can only be drank once per day.
### Viscosity
```
|---o---o---o---o---o--->
0 1 10 100 1k 10k
```
Viscosity is a characteristic determining what forms a brew can be distilled into.
Viscosity depends mostly on the base used for the brew, but the ingredients can also slightly change it.
Low viscosity brews cannot be distilled into weapon coating. High viscosity brews can be distilled into potions or ointments (but cannot be used too often).
Real life viscosity table:
|Liquid|cp (centipoise)|
|-|-|
|Water|1|
|Milk|3|
|Vegetable Oil|40|
|Tomato Juice|180|
|Honey|1500|
|Mayonnaise|5000|
### Volatility
```
|---A---B---C---D---E--->
0 1
```
Volatility is a characterstic which determines the rate and strength of potential side-effects.
Very high volatility can cause side-effects even during brewing.
When a high volatility brew is distilled into a flask or coating, the side-effects essentially become beneficial (as they are applied to enemies instead). This means distilling those concoctions becomes a high risk, high reward mechanic.
### Restoration
### Toxicity
```
<---o---o---o---|---o---o---o--->
-100 -10 -1 0 1 10 100
```
Toxicity is a characteristic which determines how poisonous a brew is. Positive toxicity is harmful, while negative toxicity cancels it out.
### Flammability
```
TBD
```
## Bases
There are several different brew bases available, each with its own characteristics and possible additional effects.
### Water
Water is the most basic brew base. Brewing concoctions with the water base uses up and requires water from the [ Watering Can](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Watering_Cans).
Concoctions using the water base have very low viscosity and no additional effects, making it an okay candidate for potions and flasks, but pretty much unusable for ointments and coatings.
### Wine
[ Wine](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Wine) base conconctions have very low viscosity, just like water base conconctions, but greatly intensified ingredient characteristics, making it a good base for more powerful potions and flasks or when you are running out of ingredients but have some spare wine, but it is pretty much unusable for ointments and coatings.
Additionally, the wine's flavor ingredient's characteristics are included in the resulting brew.
### Milk
Concoctions using the [ Milk](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Milk) base have low viscosity, slightly improved positive effects, and severely worsened negative effects, making it a great base for potions and usable base for ointments, but a bad base for flasks and coatings.
[ Goat Milk](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Goat_Milk) additionally further increases positive effects.
### Sap
[ Sap](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Sap)-based concoctions have low viscosity, slightly improved negative effects, and severely worsened positive effects, making it a great base for flasks and usable base for coatings, but a bad base for potions and ointments.
Using Sap specifically as the base requires 10 units of it.
[ Maple Syrup](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Maple_Syrup), [ Oak Resin](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Oak_Resin) and [ Pine Tar](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Pine_Tar) additionally bump up the viscosity to average, making them a better base for coatings, but worse for flasks.
### Oil
Concoctions using [ Oil](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Oil) as the base have average viscosity, making them pretty average bases for all use cases.
[ Truffle Oil](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Truffle_Oil) additionally severely improves all effects.
### Honey
[ Honey](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Honey)-based conconctions have high viscosity, and severely improved slowing effects, making them good choices for ointments and coatings, but bad for potions and flasks (other than slowing ones).
Additionally, the honey's flavor ingredient's characteristics are included in the resulting brew.
### Mayonnaise
[ Mayonnaise](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Mayonnaise) base concoctions have very high viscosity, making them good choices for ointments and coatings, but unusable for potions and flasks.
[ Duck Mayonnaise](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Duck_Mayonnaise) additionally slightly improves positive effects.
[ Void Mayonnaise](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Void_Mayonnaise) additionally slightly improves negative effects.
[ Dinosaur Mayonnaise](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Dinosaur_Mayonnaise) additionally severely improves all effects.
## Ingredients
Using better quality ingredients amplifies the characteristics.

## Grinding/measuring
Alchemical Equipment is a new tool item, allowing the player to grind solid or measure liquid ingredients, splitting them into smaller parts. This can be used to more precisely control the concentration of a given ingredient to achieve better results.
## Distillation
Before a brew can be used, it has to be distilled into an actual usable form.
### Potion
A condensed, instant or very short term effect drinkable.
High viscosity brews cannot be distilled into potions.
### Ointment
A less condensed, long term effect brew.
Low viscosity brews cannot be distilled into ointments.
### Flask
A hand-thrown concoction, used to inflict damage or short status effects to enemies. Flasks can be thrown directly, or used as ammunition for any Slingshot.
High viscosity brews cannot be distilled into flasks.
### (Weapon/tool) coating
An average length weapon/tool effect.
Low viscosity brews cannot be distilled into coatings.
