# Special Session Approval Email:
Dear _______,
We are delighted to inform you that your proposal for a Special Session on () at the Pacific Rim Mathematical Association Congress 2021 (PRIMA CONGRESS 2021), has been approved.
As we mentioned in our solicitation, PRIMA 2021 will bring together mathematicians from around the Pacific Rim will to discuss the latest developments in Mathematics. We anticipate that the conference will be an innovative hybrid between in-person and online components, and we view our Special Sessions as the core of the conference program.
As such, we would like to encourage you to keep geographical spread and individual diversity in mind when putting together your list of speakers. If you would like to consult with us, please do reach out. We will also be convening a discussion of special session organizers with the scientific committee in early February, to discuss details of the meeting.
Currently, we have not made a final decision on the in-person portion of the meeting, though we are increasingly hopeful of having an in-person component to the meeting.
(paragraph below only for those interested in organizing a summer school): You also indicated you would be interested in organizing a short summer school associated to your special session. We hope this is still the case, and would like to discuss further possible formats and themes. Please let us know what you have in mind.
With best wishes,
Jayadev Athreya (on behalf of the scientific committee)
# Special Session Submissions:
Submitted:
Geometric Group Theory (Bestvina)
Enumerative Algebraic Geometry (Wei-Ping Li)
Algebraic Number theory and Arithmetic Geometry (Sug Woo Shin)
Things that will hopefully be submitted this week (11/17):
Harmonic Analysis (Eugenia Malinnikova and Zihui Zhao + Bobby Wilson)
Combinatorics (recruited by Marni Mishna)
Dynamics (Cecilia Gonzalez-Tokman, Anthony Quas, Yitwah Cheung, Jana Rodriguez-Hertz)
# PRIMA 2021 Format/Special Session Ideas
We want to think hard about how to organize an event that in an ideal world will have both in person and online components. A few things that came up in our May meeting were the importance of session chairs in managing online questions/chats. We also discussed the idea of online winter schools in November associated to special sessions. When we ask special session organizers, we need them to be aware of this.
