# NounCraft Inaugural Build Contest

Welcome to NounCraft, the official Nouns Community Minecraft server!

NounCraft is a Modded Survival server with a focus on creativity, automation, and adventure. To kick off survival mode on the server, we are holding a creative mode build contest for the spawn area!

## Basic info:

- Anyone over the age of 18 with Minecraft: Java Edition is allowed to enter. If you don't already have the Java edition, [Click Here](https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-bedrock-edition-pc) (currently on sale for $14.99 USD)
- Download the CurseForge Launcher and the NounCraft: Garden Party Modpack [here](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/nouncraft-garden-party)
- Submit an application to the NounCraft server at [NounCraft.gg/apply](https://nouncraft.gg/apply) (this is just to get discord/ign info, should take less than 2 minutes)
- Contest will begin at 12:01 AM EST on Friday, June 14th. At this time, all entrants will be granted access to the server. (Late entries are fine, but we can't guarantee instant server whitelisting, so sooner is better!)
- Entrants will then have 2 weeks to finish their build according to the build criteria (details below), ending at 11:59 PM EST on Friday, June 28th.
- Teamwork *is* allowed, but winning teams will still only receive one prize, so bear that in mind if you decide to form one.
- Screenshots of the completed builds should be submitted here, as well as a short description of the entry. Video tours also okay!
- After the build period is completed, the server will be officially open and switch to Survival mode!
- RobotFishGirl will record tour videos of each entry, to be posted on the [NounCraft Twitter](https://) and [NounCraft Warpcast Channel.](https://warpcast.com/~/channel/nouncraft)
- Voting will be on [nouns.gg](https://nouns.gg/rounds/nouncraft) and will last one week, ending on Friday, July 5th at 11:59 PM EST

## Prizes

**5th Place** and up will be awarded with one of a selection of specially enchanted weapons or tools, a Waystone in their inventory to place where they will (which cannot be crafted in survival), and a special Contest Winner role in the [NounCraft Discord](https://discord.gg/U5zTyCkZHD)!

**3rd Place** and up will receive all previous prizes, as well as a custom Minecraft skin, commissioned to their specifications by RobotFishGirl.

**1st Place** will win all of that, PLUS they can select or build a structure of their choice (within 48 blocks square) to be added to the servers Village Generation on the next update. This will give that structure a chance to naturally generated in any village in the world from that point forward. This can be their own winning spawn build, a personalized house just for them, or any other structure they would like to see populated in the world, including other entries!

All prizes will also include commemorative NounCraft Trophy NFTs on Base, though these are optional claims- You **DO NOT** need a wallet to enter this contest, or to claim any of the other prizes.

## Build Criteria

- All builds need to fit within the spawn area, surrounded by a ring of mountains. It's circled in red here: 

- Digging into the mountains is allowed, so long as you do not break through to the outside of the mountain ring.
- Builds should be a maximum of 32x32 blocks, or fit within 4 chunks. A block or two over is okay, just be considerate of your neighbors!
- All entries should highlight either one of the content mods on the server, or a particular aspect or event in Nouns and cc0 culture. A list of those content mods, as well as brief descriptions of them, is available [here](https://hackmd.io/@RobotFishGirl/SkirjNhH0).
- Builds should feel possible- Solid foundations, supports, etc. This is to fit within the style of the spawn village, and is not a hard and fast rule- more of a suggestion.
- While you will be in Creative mode for the duration of the contest, all entries should be possible to build in survival. That means no bedrock, barrier blocks, uncraftable items like Waystones, etc.
- Digging down is okay, but try not to dig down beyond 16ish blocks- Think basement, not mineshaft.
- Building up above the mountain ring is allowed and encouraged, so long as the build is completely accessible to survival players with no items. (Avoid ender pearl teleports or platforms that require an elytra, in other words.)
