# Visitor Monitoring In this article, we will be using our DEMO workspace, Flowers By Lily. The Visitors tab is a great way to track and engage with customers. While live chat helps the customer engage first with your business, Visitors tab helps the business engage first with the customer. This tool gives you access to new or returning customers and allows you to invite the customer to a conversation. This will be helpful to sales teams, marketing teams, small businesses looking for new customers, and many more to convert site traffic to business. The three major sections of Visitors: * Browsing Now * Last Interactions * Invitations ## Browsing Now Opening Visitors takes you to Browsing Now. Here we display individual visitors and monitor their session. At a glance, we can view a list of things: see the page name of your website the customer is using, the number of visits the customer has made to your website, the city, the duration of their visit, the amount of pages viewed, and their last interaction. The name of the customer can be displayed if they are a returning customer from your database. A new customer will be displayed as an asterisk until they are added by a Rake user from your workspace. ![](https://i.imgur.com/XsV6SnB.png) As stated in the page, there is no need to refresh your browser. This tab updates automatically and will add or remove visitors as customers enter or leave your website. The page will always be displayed in real-time. ![](https://i.imgur.com/af5W9To.png) Visitor Tab documents the duration of the customer's session down to the second. The duration is formatted as hours, minutes and seconds. This is a great tool to see how invested a customer is on your business. After a certain time, it would be beneficial to invite the guest to a conversation. ## Last Interaction Before sending an invitation to customer, check LAST INTERACTION to ensure they are still on your website. ![](https://i.imgur.com/TQKCv4l.png) Here is a list of common interactions that would be displayed. | Interaction | Definition | | ---------------- |:------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Tab in focus | The customer currently has your website displayed. | | Tab not in focus | The customer has your website in a background tab and is currently not being viewed. | | Proactive Message was displayed| The proactive message was displayed over the widget. | | Widget was opened | The customer interacted with the Live Chat Widget by clicking the widget or the proactive message. ## Invitation Send an invitation to a customer only when their tab is in focus. Do not send an invitation if the tab is not in focus. To send an invitation, click INVITE on the right. ![](https://i.imgur.com/x7IVIhy.png) Send the customer a custom message that would entice them to accept the invitation and click SEND. Please note that if the customer accepts the invitation, the Rake user sending the invitation will receive the conversation. ![](https://i.imgur.com/LQBWjE2.png) Once accepted, the conversation will resume in the Conversations tab. # Finished!
