# Meeting notes, Dissertation W1, 22 Sep 2022 ###### tags: `Dissertation` `Meeting` ## Action 1. Finalise the research questions as much as possible 2. Read through the Ethics system and requirements, and prepare in detail. Work on Proposal and Ethics application *in parallel*. ## Resources mentioned **Statistical analysis** * G*Power * Jamovi **Platforms for experiments** * Pavlovia * Cognio[?] * Qualtrics * Jisk[?] * PsychoPy * JSPsych **Creating 3D graphics as stimuli** * Unity (see Unity Asset Store) * (Previously mentioned) Blender * Use pose libraries ## Discussion on proposal proforma Study design - Use flow chart and visualisation to detail study design - Detail duration and number of trials in experiment. - State the questionnaires. Participants - Conduct power analysis with GPower or R, state the alpha, beta, expected effect size, to determine an appropriate number of participants. Materials - For proposal / ethics application, can use images from other papers, cite and say we'll be using something similar. - For questionnaires, state how many questions, any subsets or subscles, and the scoring (e.g., mean, total). Procedure - Any counterbalance, blocks of trials, randomisation, controls. - Request participants to use desktop or laptop, and (for eye tracking experiment) test that participants are on desktops/laptops. Ethics - Consider ethical issues for using stimuli e.g., faces, and data capture & storage for eye-tracking via participants' webcam Analysis - State statistical tests - If specifying only the levels of analysis, state that there will be additional validity and reliability tests
