okay. So why can there be 2 points for an x value, when we are talking about differentialbility?
</div></div>
<div><div class="alert blue">
What do you mean by 2 x values?
</div><img class="right"/></div>
<div><img class="left"/><div class="alert gray">
No not 2 x values, but one x and 2 y values.

</div></div>
<div><img class="left"/><div class="alert gray">
Why are there 2 values? how can there be?
</div></div>
<div><div class="alert blue">
So in this example you are looking at winnings from a game show, where the y-values are dollars, and the x is time. So , at 55 min, the contestant rallied and won $40. Unfortunately, taxes had to be paid, so while they won $40, they only took home $28. So for the values of *a*, *f* has a limit, but the lim *x to a* *f(x)* does not equal *f(a)*
</div><img class="right"/></div>
<div><img class="left"/><div class="alert gray">
So the limit was what you thought you were getting, and the actual value is $28?
</div></div>
<div><div class="alert blue">
You got it! So the limit exists but it is different than the function value. It would be *f(55)=28.*
