The next generation of teens meets the next generation of technology Best Buy's Geek Squad Academy offers an opportunity for students to develop technology skills, build self-confidence, spark creativity and discover how technology can benefit them in their educational pursuits and future careers. Geek Squad Academy students become "Junior Agents" and get hands-on experience with some of the newest and cooles Appoinment Local Best Buy employees help junior agents explore areas like: * Coding * Game design * Photography * 3d design * digital music * ... and more! It's one thing to tell teens about a possible future in technology, but the real magic happens when you show them that they can start now. Geeksquad.com/member Appoinment Academy is all about creating fun projects with accessible technology that junior agents can show off to their friends and family. **Application dates** The Geek Squad Academy proposal process for 2023 has closed. Check back this fall for applications for 2024 host sites! Schools, nonprofits, and other community organizations are invited to apply to host Geek Squad Academy during school vacations or as a field trip for youth ages 10-18. Geeksquad.com/member Appoinment We're also happy to share that this season in addition to our usual two-day campouts we're also offering 'mini campouts' that can support locations with fewer Best Buy stores in the area and groups of 60 or fewer. **Full Size Camp Requirements:** Be able to recruit a minimum of 100 students and a maximum of 200 students **Space requirements:** * Six to seven classroom spaces * Ample area for student lunch. * Large area for opening/closing ceremonies (can be the same as the lunch space) * Tables and chairs to accommodate 25 students per classroom * Make sure the facility is available for three consecutive days (one day for setup and two days for instruction) * Recruit a minimum of one volunteer for every 25 students, who will be responsible for managing student behavior and facilitating smooth transitions from class to class. **Minicamp Requirements:** **Be able to recruit a minimum of 20 students and a maximum of 60 students** * Classes are limited to groups of 20 students. * Make sure the facility is available for one or two consecutive days * Internet connectivity available * Recruit a minimum of one volunteer for every 25 students, who will be responsible for managing student behavior and facilitating smooth transitions from class to class. **Recommended**: Additional equipment such as computers, tablets, and cameras are helpful but not necessary.
