# Project Towny Research Overhaul - Design Doc *For Project Towny Update 0.7 (Research Update), Version 1.0* *Currently in early planning stages, nothing seen below is final!* ###### tags: `Version 0.7` ## Municipality Research Syncing The gamestage book system isn't a very good way of handling getting everybody's gamestages synced up. It required the use of books that were either printed out via the finicky quest book, or using the Mr. Crayfish Furniture mod printer to create copies of the book, which wasn't very intuitive. #### The new system should work as follows Mayors of towns can appoint researchers to the town with the /research add \<player>, and can remove them with /research remove \<player> as well. To see every member of the research team the mayor can also use /research list When a player appointed as a researcher get a new game stage, that game stage will be automatically added to the municipality's pool of technology. From there citizens of a municipality can use /research sync to add every tech that they currently do not have, to their research. *As of 0.6 this feature has been implemented* ## Research Instead of submitting items to the questbook players will submit items to a research multiblock which will print out a certificate of some sort that will be submitted for the quest. This will allow us more flexibility of what we allow players to submit as well as let us use FTB Quests. There are 3 tiers of research machine to go along with the 3 tiers of technology: * Research Desk * Research Workshop * Research Laboratory Each multiblock bigger and with more inputs to accommodate more advanced inputs like energy. Players will submit a whole lot of items related to the tech to force players to build up the necessary infrastructure
