# Calibration Procedure

### To work gas tanks:
- Open valve, connect tube and check flow rate before connecting to the FMS
- flip uper left switch up so it is at baseline, calibrate system (see below)
- Close tank, depressurize regulator for storage and turn off

### Calibrate/Setting the water vapor span:
- Before hooking any tubes up to the airtank, check that air and NOT water flowing through tubing
- Flip the upper left switch to ‘baseline’ (instead of ‘chamber’) on FMS
- Hook the a tube from FMS baseline (which is the really long tube) to the tank that contains no CO2 and let it run for 5 minutes.
- You should see the water vapor values start to decrease towards zero.

### How to check the accuracy of the upper H2O span:
- Use the factory set upper limit
- no action required

### To zero the water vapor sensor

- turn "mode dial" twice clockwise until you see "adjust zero"
- then turn adjust dial (next to teh red one) to sent to zero.
- hit enter (the red button below the water vapor display)

### Calibrate/Setting O2 span:
- You will need a tank of 21% O2, 0% CO2, the rest Nitrogen
- You only need to set the upper span of this
- Tank has already been connected gas from stap 1 above.
- Flow needs to be at least 250, you should be able to feel air but it should not be "blasting"
- Observe the O2 reading on the FMS (it might be wrong).
- to chagne the value of 02, turn the "mode dial" 3 times until it reads "fixed span O2".
- Turn the adjust dial until you get to 20.9%.
- Hit enter.
- done

### Set CO2 zero using the current tank:
- observe CO2 reading on gas analyzer (it should be zero but this is what we are adjusting)
- turn "mode dial" to "zero CO2!"
- hit enter
- hit enter again to confirm. Display reads "hold please, this had better be CO2 free air"
- done

### Set CO2 1% using the other tank
- You will need a tank of 1% CO2 balanced with air
- Turn on the gas very low before hooking the tubes up to baseline
- Connect to tank
- wait a 3 minutes for things to stabalize.
- turn "mode dial" to "Adjust CO2 span"
- turn adjust until you are at 1%
- hit red enter button.

### change switch in upper left on FMS to computer
- confirm that O2 reads about 21%
