# Song Analysis - Brand New Day **5/13/21 - Song Analysis #2** "Brand New day" is one if not my favorite songs from Kodaline. "Brand New Day" was created by Kodaline in 23 August 2013. You might not know him, but I bet you will probably know his most famous song called "All I want". "All I Want" is a very popular song still do this day. Many people just know it by people trying to sing it on The Voice or America's Got Talent. Sadly this song doesn't have enough information from the Band to make a accurate assumption of what the song means. So, Ill have to take my best guess on what the song really mean. > Well it's your hometown I think I've outgrown I wanna travel the world but I, I just can't do it alone So I'm just waiting on fate to come. Wrap around me Think about all the foreign places we could be This section I believe is referring to a person he loves or his partner. I believe that its his partners hometown and he has overdue his stay or doesn't want to be there no more. His tired of the same place and wants to travel the world but he doesn't want to do it without her. Seems to me that she doesn't won't to leave her hometown, so he's wanting for fate to come wrap around him and she finally leaves with him to travel the world. Last line is simple to understand. > I'll be flicking stones at your window I'll be waiting outside 'til you're ready to go Won't you come down? Come away with me Just think of all the places we could be I'll be waiting, waiting on a brand new day This section I believe his trying to still get her to come with him by flicking stones at her window but shes still unwilling to come. This is hinted by "Won’t you come down?". Again he still tell her imagine the places we could be. Since she's not coming down he will be waiting on a brand new day. > Riding on waves, walking on sand Digging in caves to find the treasures of the land And if we find gold Well, we'll just throw it away We can write stories bout the journeys that we made (We could be big in Japan) This whole section is him imagining what they would do together. Whole bunch's of if's. > They said they'll keep me here But I couldn't do another year I said I'll see you soon Because I whistle to a different tune This section I think is a little iffy for me. I think they want him to stay but since one wants to travel but the other doesn't shows a divide in personalities. The one that wants to stay home and the one that wants to travel the world. His finally realized he can't change her mind so he says goodbye to her and will be back soon. He does this because he "whistle to a different tune" meaning his different from her. Rest of the lyrics are repeated. So, thats it. This is what I believe the song was about. Of course I could be wrong but this is what I think. ### The Message The message in my opinion is about love that will never be together, but there's always hope. The hope I think is the "fate" he mentions in line 4. That's why I think the title is called "Brand New Day". That brand new day could change everything. But you must understand that sometimes it won't work out because people with opposite personality play different tunes. I think in this song someone experienced the failure but is trying to show you the reality of this type of "opposite love". But at the same type showing there is hope in this type of situation ### Reference "Brand New Day Lyrics." Lyrics.com. STANDS4 LLC, 2021.
