# 1st NC Leadership Program Day 2 ## Roles and Responsibilities ### Corporals. Responsible for attendance of squad members (4/5 privates). If not able to make it they should message you and you are accountable for NCO meetings. Even if they haven't responded - you must have attempted to contact them. Fridays and Saturdays (at least) privates should be DM'd - this is a personal touch and should help ensure we are connecting with our troops. Should a Sergeant be absent a corporal should attempt to step up and verify platoon level attendance. Corporal is the "Go To" guy for passing messages. Following and enforcing orders of superior officers. - shooting in right direction, targets etc and that formation and dressing and alignment of the unit is as it should be. Knowing and showing superior efficiency in the instructions from the manual of arms - when a command is used, how it is used etc. Qualifications - basic qualifications rifleman, LCP1, LCP2, Courier etc. Echoing of orders should be carried out by NCO's in events only but can be called out by LCP candidates in drill. ### 2nd Sergeants. Responsible for attendance of squads and platoons. Will speak to corporals to help ensure messaging has been completed, he will also fill in for any absences or gaps WRT messaging. Responsible for ensuring corporals and privates are correctly trained and that they carry out their responsibilities well (ensure relevant qualifications are held). Contribute to drill plan for their company. Once a month, a Sergeant should plan and run a company drill. Manage/Monitor the conduct of their men both in and out of combat, and to enfore proper conduct and discipline. Should be qualified in all areas subordinates are qualified in and LCP courses to level 3. ### 1st Sergeants. Need to handle attendance for company as a whole. If NCO's don't show up, the 1st Sergeant should already have awareness of attendance. Responsible for ensuring corporals and privates and 2nd Sergeants are correctly trained and that they carry out their responsibilities well (ensure relevant qualifications are held and that they are competent). Responsible for sponsoring NCO Candidates. Delegate responsibilities to help train troops. Holding NCO meetings for respective companies once a month. At this meeting should discuss attendance, skills, drills etc. Should also report summary of this meeting to Sergeant Major. There should be a checklist to tick off for this meeting (eventually). 1st Sergeants need to be able to run the line in drill and in combat - usually in event of officer casualties or absence. Primarily responsible for drill plan of their company. Sergeants may base this on directives from command or on company areas of improvement. Ensures that the right person is in the right job. Often proscribed, however this is primarily around best person for the job. An example of this is training or recruiting. Privates might operate as assistant instructor but NCO should sign off. If there is no qualified person available 1st Sergeant should attempt to fill in where necessary (subordinate roles only). Do not force subordinates into roles with which they are not comfortable with. Tracking qualifications and ensure they're signed off - this may be reflected in discord tags. Maintaining morale and discpline within companies - issues with one another, command etc. Requires LCP4. ### Sergeant Major. Ensure all of the above is adhered to by appropriate personnel. Hold the Monthly NCO meeting. Quarterly meeting for all enlisted personnel (including recruits). Officers should not be in attendance. Serves as a method and means of communication between enlisted and commisioned officers. Ensure maintainenance of the unit roster for entire unit. Ensure reservers aren't tying up company spots, and that relevant recruits are moved into companies on graduation to private. Assist with the administration of LCP courses. Assessment of Senior NCO candidates with Senior unit staff. Ensure that specialist personnel (rangemaster, couriers) are qualified and competent. Fill in to other roles when necessary (ie filling in for sergeant or officer spots). Should be able to command the Batallion effectively in combat. Responsible for Morale and Effectiveness of men of the unit. Qualification requirements - Same as any other any NCO as well as LCP post graduate work - contributing to growing the LCP program. ## Specialist Positions ### Rangemaster Administer weapons related qualification tests - Riflemen - Marksman - Sharpshooter ### Recruiter & New Player Instructor Engage with new players, ensure they're having a good time. Ensure that if a new player needs anything they get it. Don't be pushy - we are not a high pressure recruiting environment. You're not the only who should be doing this role, but you will be expected to pop out of formation to introduce the new recruit. NCO candidates should step up to do this. ASK your NCO's to step out of line and go and recruit. Try and be on the server - bodies on the drill server attract recruits. No active poaching of recruits from other units. Spec 4 is the qualification for this specialisation. ### Scout NCO In charge of Skirmishers when detatched from main line Will do individual Scouting Expected to be able to independantly manage a squad sized unit. Able to relay information quickly and clearly (including identifying enemy unit sizes and positions). 4-9 people is a skirmish detail 4-16 company 16+ Regiment Scout Qualification and Courier Qualification required. DDD's Distance, Direction, Discretion plus a little extra (the more relevant info the better). ### Courier Record and Regurgitate orders. Present name of sending officer and destination unit/officer followed by message. maknig a note of the message is acceptable but not desirable.
