How do I fix my Gmail not receiving emails?

It's possible that your Gmail account won't receive emails going forward, but this is uncommon. I do not mean just occasionally not receiving emails from a specific sender; rather, I mean completely ceasing to receive any new emails. Don't worry if you are having this kind of trouble; a remedy is available.

However, there isn't a single solution to this problem. As such, I will include every possible solution to Gmail's email not working.

Gmail not Working

Note: I will provide solutions for @gmail.com accounts on the Gmail mobile app or web app to fix this problem. You need to make sure that your MX records are correct and that your domain hasn't expired if you use G-Suite.

  1. Is Gmail up?
Though it's really unusual, it's possible that there's a Gmail service outage that keeps you from receiving emails. Before looking into other options, make sure there isn't a brief service disruption by keeping an eye on the Google apps status dashboard. This is an inventory of every Google service, including Gmail. There's a problem with Gmail if it has an orange or pink mark next to it.

  2. Check other places
Your emails might be going to your Gmail account, but they might not be showing up in your inbox. To see every email in one place, select "All Mail" after swiping down on the left side panel. Every email in your account—aside from spam and the trash folder—will be visible. If this folder doesn't contain any fresh emails, check the "Spam" folder just below it.

If you find it in spam, simply click the "Report not spam" button at the top of the email body to forward it to your inbox. Emails that you find in any other folder may be there because you configured a filter to send them there or because some emails, like promotions, are intended to be in that folder.

  1. Launch Gmail directly.
If you are viewing Gmail using Thunderbird or another client, the issue can occur. Check if your emails are arriving by going straight to the Gmail web interface at . If they are present, there is probably a synchronization issue or an incorrect setting on the client's end. Depending on the client you are using, you will need to search online for a solution to the issue.

  2. Not enough space to receive emails
There is 15GB of free space included with every Google account by default. Furthermore, if that space is filled, you won't be able to receive any further emails. The very bottom of your Gmail interface shows the overall availability and the quantity that is filled.
