**This guide is *only* intended for Windows 10/11 Home edition. Most Windows Pro users will be incompatible. For all other devices/platforms, please go to their respective installation guides linked in the Discord Server (Linked above).**

**For some reason, Opera Browser on certain devices does *not* work! If the link opens up an ad or an empty tab but does *not* start downloading, use a different browser!**

**It is recommended to download and keep the files in: `C:\Users\your name\Downloads`!
OneDrive *will* break the game, installer, and saves. It doesn’t sync in the Downloads folder.**

## Guide with Screenshots
### Step 1: Download the zip

- If you're having issues with the mediafire link, use this Google Drive Link: <font color="b3acbb">Coming soon...</font>
- ==If the backup goes down, we can’t do anything about it. Google is very strict.==
### Step 2: Extract the zip
- In your downloads folder, you will see the zip.
- Right click the zip, and extract it

### Step 3: Create Shortcut
- Open the new folder it extracted.
- Double Click `CreateLauncherShortcut.bat`
- This will create a shortcut that you can move wherever you want to open the launcher from.

If you get this popup, press `More Info` then `Run Anyways`.

### Step 4: Finish installing

If you have just redownloaded the launcher, go to Settings and click Reset Config before installing the game!

- Double click PIFLauncher and the app will open! Click INSTALL
- This will open a command prompt and start installing the game. Be patient and let it finish.
- Once the installation is done, the install button will change to a Play button that you will use to launch the game.

You can move the game somewhere else after if you want, but inside the Downloads\PIFLauncher1.1.2\GameFiles folder is the best location to install.

### Updating to 1.1.2

As of right now, to update the launcher, you MUST re-download it fresh!

:::warning
If your launcher version is 2.x or 3.x, you need to uninstall and reinstall the launcher. In `#ask-a-bot` in the Discord Server, type `?tag appfix` for more info.
:::

- ~~Download and extract the `LauncherFiles1.1.1.zip`:~~
- ~~In your PIFLauncher folder, delete the AppFiles Folder and the PIFLauncher shortcut. Your folder should look like the screenshot below.~~
- ~~Drag or copy and paste the AppFiles from the `LauncherFiles1.1.1.zip` you just downloaded to your PIFLauncher folder.~~

## Common Issues
### Issue 1: CreateLauncherShortcut bringing up Windows Protection
- Click `More info`, then `Run Anyways`
### Issue 2: App Blocked from Internet/Opening
- Adding the App through Windows Defender
1. Press the Windows key and type: Virus & Threat Protection
2. Click on Manage Settings
3. Click on Add or remove exclusions.
4. Click on Add an exclusion and click Folder
5. Click on the PIFLauncher folder from your Downloads folder

## Authenticity

**The Launcher is not electronically signed because Megaman was getting quoted $200-$300/yr to be on the verified publisher list. This results in his Launcher being flagged/suspicious and some Antiviruses will block or delete Launcher files. We provide a VirusTotal of the Launcher below to show it is clean as well.**
