# Use Glyphs to fix broken font families ###### tags: `fonts` `osx` A broken font family is when you download a bunch of font files, double click all of them to install and then to your horror about 5 different windows pop up, displaying each font weight and style as its own separate typeface! Glyphs 3, the mac font editor, can be used to fix this. Firstly install it from [its website](https://glyphsapp.com/). > If you are broke and/or have no shame, you may seek out a cracked version [here](https://www.minorpatch.com/macapps/glyphs/). > The .dmg password is `minorpatch.com`. > Double-click on the glyphs.license file after installing Glyphs to activate it. After launching it, navigate to the directory containing the accursed font files and right click to open them in Glyphs. Once opened, go to `File > Font Info`. In the Font tab, rename the family name and localized family name to whatever the intended name is. In the Master tab, change the Master Name to the font's style (e.g Italic) In the Exports tab, change the Style and localized Style Name to the style (e.g Bold Italic) Change the Full Name to something like "Valkyrie Bold". Change the Font Name to the intended file name (e.g. `ValkyrieBold`) When done, close the Font Info window and go to `File > Export` and export the font as you wish.
