## About Blinkit
Blinkit is an open source free notification software that notifies you with light and sound. The devices used are widely available and inexpensive, and it makes use of Solana and Serum specific functions.
Blinkit started back in 2018 on Steem followed by the Hive blockchain and several other chains after that. with the aim to provide a user friendly, fun, and customizable notification software. With the experience gained from these hackathons, more integration possibilities came along. With the help of this Solana x Serum Hackathon reward, the ultimate goal can be reached for the Blinkit project, which is to turn the prototype software into a consumer ready, multiplatform OS-independent software and to produce Solana-themed devices that are compatible with Blinkit.

### Functions
The current Blinkit release (v4.3) is made for the Solana x Serum hackathon and currently has the following integrated functions:
- Blink on SOL wallet balance changes
- Blink on SOL price changes
- Blink on SOL price above the set alert
- Blink on SOL price below the set alert
- Blink on Solana node status offline
- Blink on Solana node health status
- Blink on Solana epoch
- Blink on SRM price changes
- Blink on SRM price above the set alert
- Blink on SRM price below the set alert
- Blink on new Serum trading pairs
*Most of the functions are fully functional but some still need a bit more polishing*

If you use a Tasmota RGB bulb, than the light notification colours will be in the Solana colours. With the price related functions it will blink red when the price goes down, and green when the price goes up.

Get notified, and take follow up actions. Use Blinkit in combination with SushiSwap, Torus, dapps, games and all projects in the current and future Solana and Serum ecosystem.

## Supported Devices
The devices used are inexpensive and widely available. This ensures there are thousands of different devices that can now be connected to Solana. The devices come in the following 3 categories:
**USB flash drives** Any USB flash drive that has a status LED can be used, most preferable will be a USB stick with a bright LED and a small form factor.
**Keyboard lights** Most keyboards and laptops have a num, scroll, and caps lock LED status lights. Blinkit can blink them when blockchain actions are detected independent of brand and model.
**Smarthome devices** (Tasmota) Over 2000 inexpensive devices like WIFI lightbulbs, power switches, LED strips and even RGB lightbulbs can be used to blink on and off when newly detected Solana blockchain actions are detected. (Supported smarthome devices must run the popular open source Tasmota smarthome firmware.
A list of compatible smart home devices can be found here: https://templates.blakadder.com/all.html

*"It's possible you have one of the compatible devices already at home, and it can be recycled / upcycled with the use of Blinkit, to give them a crypto purpose!""* <br></br>

## How is the prototype software built?
Blinkit is open source, and made with a combination of batch scripts for the back-end and HTML and CSS in a HTA application for the front-end. This approach ensures that all files can be edited without being depended on a SDK or 3rd party software. No compilation is required, just a simple text editor is enough to start tweaking it. All code is commented, and your tweaks on it are welcomed in the Blinkit Discord chat so they can be reviewed and implemented.
Blinkit makes use of the following API servers:
The Coingecko API for live price updates https://www.coingecko.com/en/api
The Project Serum API for Solana: https://solana-api.projectserum.com , it can be set to others as well: https://api.mainnet-beta.solana.com
The Bonfida API for Serum related functions https://serum-api.bonfida.com

## What's next for Blinkit
If the grant price is won we will rework the project from scratch to make the best possible and most compatible multiplatform software, and will want to start in parallel to develop a Solana themed / branded device.
Devices can be sourced or developed as a white label or private label. If desired, this can be done in close cooperation with the Solana team, to reach the Solana corporate guidelines and bring the best possible result for the users.
If the First, Second, Third, Community or Project reward price is won this will still be the same, but in a scaled down approach according to what is possible with the reward / budget that is available.
